Morning all,
Pizzas were delicious(even if I say so myself :A) I can't take credit for the long proving thing KC - it's Dan Lepard again (one of my other most used and loved cookbooks. DH bought it for me the Christmas after we got engaged and my Nan was very much of the opinion that it was so I'd know how to look after him :rotfl:) We didn't make it to the cinema as we were both pretty shattered - collapsed in front of the TV instead. Sadly my step count yesterday was less than 3k... oops! Will do better today (already over 2000).
My car has its MOT this afternoon so trying to get work done as much as possible first. I'll take laptop and try to use their WiFi for more while I'm there, but I'm not entirely optimistic. Fingers crossed, the car should pass as DH has done a lot to it recently.
MS things:
* Lots of SBs yesterday
* VB survey
* Lots of work done and submitted - hooray!
Gratitudes:
* Yummy dinner and last of the cheesecake last night
* I get to leave the house later! :rotfl::T
* Finally beginning to feel a bit more on top of work (despite more coming in - deadlines mean stuff is getting off of the to-do list)

I had to laugh to myself when i read your post yesterday you really are taking saving money very seriously what with reusing water and saving on yeast.
I hope your car passes its MOT today with no work needed ,my husband always does all the work on ours that he thinks need doing before the day then if it fails he brings it home and does those jobs too unless its something very simple and cheap then he leaves it to them to do but its very handy when you see the costs some people have to pay for their MOTs that we have handy men0 -
I know, the lengths we go to sometimes! :rotfl: It's the satisfaction of nothing going to waste though and knowing that the nearly empty yeast pot will go a bit further!
KF won't be doing any work to my car. I've not been in a few years, but they used to know me and the cars and know that I/DH will be doing any work to them. I remember just after graduating (and broke) when I took my car to a local garage and they changed a bulb and charged me £7 for it, I was very unhappy! With a Halfrauds trade card a bulb is pennies!
Totally agree with you about the costs people pay for simple jobs on their cars... and I always think it must be so emasculating for middle-aged men to pay at HFs for a 20-something young woman to change a bulb or a windscreen wiper.... really? :eek: Will people pay rather than do anything for themselves these days?! It's a pain sometimes having an older car, and we complain about the costs of repairs, but they're a fraction per year of what a car on PCP would cost per month.... It's an insane world we live in.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Got to come back on little ways of saving money
Apart from it being ferocious, which is what I called it on my thread
re-using cooking water is very environmentally sound: you get the micronutrients that leached into the water, and you get to help your local water supply: my local reservoir is only 42% full
and every bit helps.
As for yeast - slower proving is better proving, I'm remembering now that fast proving is one of the problems with industrial bread.
I do love it when the two go together :j

You're completely right KC re reusing/saving water, and it's something I'm not as hot on as I should be (although I don't think we're particularly frivolous). Loads of nutrients in mozzarella water - I forgot to do this last time and the base definitely wasn't as tasty.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all!
Feeling very virtuous (and MSE and better for the environment). In efforts not to waste any of the leftovers from the weekend, I'm desperately trying to use up the last of the cream. We had creamy tomato pasta last night (mmm), I used a bit instead of milk in the muffins I made yesterday (which used up the last of the redcurrants that had been defrosted), and even had little bit in my porridge this morning (which, even with extra water, was a bit much after a few mouthfuls!). Still have a little bit to go, but this might go on a muffin for dessert later. Still have some cream cheese to use up in the next day or so too and an orange... hmm, that sounds like a mini cheesecake perhaps (still some leftover digestives from the cheesecake)
I think I need to take a leaf out of Tilly's (2012) book and have a bit of a session finishing up jars lurking in the top of the fridge - it's a mess in there tbh! Also need to work on using up some of the spirits in our spirit cupboard.... they're taking up far too much space!
DH removed all his money from bookie accounts last night (he'd taken most out when he stopped MBing, but left some in the good bookies) - another £230 found. :T Once they've come in he'll sort out the a/c switch.
I've discovered a book I was going to get rid of is out of print and therefore there's 1 copy on Am selling for £65 - it was only £5.99 new anyway :rotfl:. So have requested that they reactivate my account and I'll pop that on there for a reasonable ~£7. Will check out the other books I was going to sell too.
I've still got work, but currently just the one project on the go and it's a nice easy one, so a lovely change of pace from recent days/weeks. I can breathe at last!
Mum's popping up to pick me up later for Brownies - I did offer to get the train down to her, but she's happy to get me, so I'll take the saving on fares. Brownies is in the hands of the other leader and it sounds like we're doing singing, so a fairly easy evening there too. I recently paid the balance of our Brownie holiday on my CC so I got the pointsSo I need a cheque for that - £1400!
Apart from the stupid weather and fixing my car, this should be a more relaxing weekend than last, so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully a trip to the seaside on Sunday, with breakfast out - my much delayed birthday treat!
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine
* Looking forward to a relaxing weekend
* No Brownie pressure :rotfl:
