Morning all (just),
I think, technically, QueenJess, I have half an allotment - I think they've divided most of them in two to make them more manageable - I have XXb, but XXa is available - but just a patch of grass at the moment. I guess if I get into it and no one takes on XXa, I could expand, but let's see how I get on with half to start with! Thanks for the good wishes Cheery and Karma - here's a photo of it in it's current state (photo removed, sorry!)
As you can see, it's got potential - there's stuff there already to work with. The tree and mystery bushes are adjacent in a weird separate strip that looks like it belongs to the other patch (I wonder if it did until the other patch became so neglected). SL, thanks for the tip about the greengage - it is quite a large tree already (not trained or espaliered), but when I get the key, I'll put it on the list as something to check out straight away.
Karma - card toppers are a thing, not sure they're generally origami though, that's just my twist on it!
I'm still testing negative this morning, so waiting hand and foot on DH (with much handwashing) and confining him to one room and bathroom is working so far (fingers crossed). DH is still feeling grotty but working a bit from bed.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* V Money account opened and switch initiated. Savings moved to earn more interest (what a palaver though as Nationwide put a hold on my money because they thought it was fraudulent). Have switched mobile DD, but can't do Vanguard as V hasn't set up account verification yet and so Vng want a copy of a statement, which obviously I'm unlikely to get! And this wasn't even for the DD set-up, just recognising the bank a/c! Will have to have another think about what I can switch DD-wise.
* Cat sitting meet this evening for a new client (I will be wearing my mask!)
* Have done some research re PCRs for our holiday - look to be £28 each (although that's more than the MSE article suggested.... more research required!)
Gratitudes:
* A walk this morning
* The reduced cheesecake was a delicious dessert (and there's plenty left of course)
* The groom and others don't appear to have caught the 'vid (So how did DH?!)
This afternoon I need to buy a fence post and finish some cards. Work is quiet today but am expecting something from two clients by Monday (as well as the usual stuff).
Have a good day all!

I think that's quite common to allow more people to have a chance at getting a plot, plus I suspect a whole one is often too big for people to manage.Exciting stuff though and I will be following with interest. I just have a trug on my patio and I'll be lucky to fill it with herbs and salad this year - absolutely no time. But then I have no idea what I'm doing anyway2025 decluttering: 3,848🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

That's a great allotment, madvix - comparatively weed-free too. Don't blame you for taking it down in a bit.
And yep, I saw that card toppers were a thing - loved your take on them being origami though, that's so original.
You can't tell yet where OH caught covid? Yikes ... has he been in any public spaces that are inside? Still no idea where my brother caught it either, he hasn't done anything different from what he's been doing for the entire pandemic.

DH was in Manchester for his brother’s stag do at the weekend, so it’ll be somewhere there.. none of the others are ill though, fortunately. So loads of indoor public spaces!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ah ... I see what you mean! In any case, I hope he picks up soon.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

That is a good sized plot. That looks a bit like a blackcurrant in the bottom left corner of the photo. Mine look like that at the moment, poised and ready to burst into life.
I bought a good allotment book some years ago when we were moving our veg plot and starting afresh that I still refer to (available 2nd hand) by Caroline Foley (Practical Allotment Gardening) - I've got several others but I like this best (so much so I have a second copy having initially lost mine). I think the crops might sound a bit old-fashioned but all the other stuff is excellentSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

I think it’s a bramble from memory? I might wander down later and if the gate is unlocked have a look again. If so, I’ll take a photo of the greengage and mystery bushes - they may be currants.
Will check out the book, although I’m going no-dig(gity), so trying to wrap head around that at the moment and work out how to adjust non-no-dig stuff for that. It’s complicated! Nothing wrong with old fashioned though - my go to is Mr Seymour! 😂
I have escaped to dad’s empty house for a shower and will rescue the nearly two pints of milk in the fridge before it goes past its best tomorrow 🙄 Enjoying the freedom from germs! Will pop up to the garden centre before heading home for a wander and inspiration. Parents’ friend who had an allotment in our town has recommended the association, so that’s good.
Clicks done, surveys done, milk acquired 😂 all the usual. Cat people visited last night seem lovely so that’s cat sitting week after next sorted. Did Octopus turn down last night - should have been successful.
I’m still testing negative and DH is feeling a bit better - think he might go for a walk today.

Fantastic news on the allotment Vix, it’s so cheap to rent for the year too! is there a long waiting list for a council garage then?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

Thanks NG! I don’t think there’s a waiting list for the garage. Garage man rang the other day (replying to a message I’d sent), to say that he didn’t think there was anyone else waiting for it, but it had to be checked for asbestos before it could be rented. So 🤞 it’s ours (he hadn’t double checked the list, so he may have misremembered).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
