Thanks all,
Feeling much, much better today. Mum has suggested it might be my weighted hula hoop, and I think that's a possibility - not when I use it normally, but when it slips down onto my hips, and I've been getting better and better at keeping it going there, including at the weekend - when I was so drugged up with my tooth that I wouldn't have necessarily felt it if was too painful. I will be very cautious when I do get back to using it (and may get a lighter one too).
Laptop is clearly still drying out as some keys are back that weren't working, but others are still out. Fingers crossed it gets there of its own accord.
SL, I know I could do better than Atom - and I will probably look at a fixed rate bond for some of it. I don't really want the faff of an RS at the moment, but I could do that for some of it too. I'm aware that I'm losing money at the moment, but it's a better rate than it was and I can't tie it all up.
So today, so far, I've helped DH with some fencing (although it's still an ongoing project because the remaining fence post needs replacing as it's far too short - sourcing one will be fun). Taken the cats to the vets for their overdue boosters (£208 including a year's worth of worming tabs and a prescription for flea tabs for one of them) and done some (not much!) work. DH has gone off to his brother's stag do in a foul mood - the guys organising it couldn't organise a booze up in a brewery and he's really not looking forward to it.
I've rung the EA and withdrawn from the sale of our house. There's just nothing out there that we're willing to spend £200K on. It feels good to have made the decision official. I don't think the EA really understood, but hey ho. It's good to have some certainty. And I can't remember if I said, but our neighbour's house has been valued at 45k more than ours, with their drive and garage en bloc, so neither of us really wanted to sell for £45k less than we should have been (and I think that's why our buyers had hung around for so long).
Mum has invited me for dinner this evening - not sure whether Sis and Niece will be there (as they are finally back in their own home). Then more work tomorrow, hopefully seeing Sis and Niece in the afternoon and then part two of the hen do tomorrow evening. Hoping to see my uncle and possibly wider family on Sunday.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* We had a home cooked meal last night - this feels like an achievement this week/fortnight
* Got a prescription for the flea tablets as it's cheaper to buy them elsewhere.... except they are all out of stock everywhere at the moment!
* PA longitudinal survey
* Awaiting call back from lady at the college beauty salon - want to have a bit of a pamper before the wedding - this way it's a fraction of the price (£10 for a 75-minute pedicure!)
* Have finally got around to complaining to Vinted about the fact I'm out of pocket for failures on the part of the seller
Gratitudes:
* Cats are healthy and were very well behaved
* Sun is shining
* Fence post work achieved

Good grief, you've been coping with a lot - that level of pain sounds dreadful
and lots of changes too, in only a week! Yikes to a soggy laptop, in particular, plus hurray to feeling you've done the right thing in withdrawing the house. I've bookmarked the link that SL gave you on Regular Savers - need to look at it when I'm compos mentis about numbers as well as words
With you in thinking of the people in Ukraine - unimaginable is the right word, isn't it, the things that are being reported are horrendous.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Morning all,
I have done some work (and a lot of procrastinating!) this morning. Also up to date with PA survey and clicks - won on HW so have withdrawn another £5.
Naughty B&W cat's flea tabs have been discontinued, so have asked for a prescription for the new version (same co, different active ingredient). It looks like they might be cheaperAnnoyingly prescription won't be ready until Monday (and then I need to order them), which means more delays for already-overdue treatment - good job he's an indoor cat mostly.
Had a lovely dinner at mum's last night and we watched the last Death in Paradise - were very underwhelmed by it. I wondered what had happened to the set or what was going on in Deshaies (where it's filmed) that meant they couldn't use the normal sets. It didn't have the usual tropical feel.
Off to see Sis and Niece shortly - for lunch, a walk (it's sunny here today and the wind has died down at last!) and some fun. I was going to head to the in-laws and get ready for the hen do there to save petrol, but I think I'd rather come home first and feed the cats.
MS things:
* £5 withdrawn from HW for anniversary fund.... I was thinking we might have tried Eastern Europe, but I think we'll hedge our bets and go somewhere closer that's new instead.
* Took part in Octopus's weird reduce your usage between 4.30 and 6.30 on Thursday evening (forgot to mention it yesterday) - we were successful, so will get a credit for the electricity we did use then. It's about smoothing the peak (where have we heard that before?) so that renewables can be used for more of the demand. Was interesting - just meant I made sure everything was switched off at the wall and didn't start cooking until a bit later - something to bear in mind for the future.
* Out last night, so no heating or electricity here (I also found a bit on our Octopus account that shows your usage compared to this time last week, which was also interesting - we were ahead (because of illness), so hopefully not being here most of the weekend will pull us back into line!). I put the electric blanket on as I left Mum's (smartplug) and got straight into a toasty bed when I got home last night!
* Dinner tonight was paid for back in 2020, so just drinks (and I'm driving so it'll be tap water for me).
Gratitudes:
* Quality time with mum last night - we also watched home video footage from my childhood, which I've recently had converted to digital.
* Electric blanket
* Cat cuddles (my lap is being kneaded as I type)

Ooh, had to skip most of your post just then ... I haven't watched Death in Paradise yet, now my interweb's back, I need to catch up on that. Just cautiously edged back up though - the smartplug is very interesting! Need to research that at some stage.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Ooh, interesting about the smooth your usage thing, not heard of that (but then I'm not with Octopus!)
We've been trying to put the heating on a bit later in the day - partly because the LPG tank is down to about 16% and I don't want to run out before the delivery arrives on some unspecified day next week 😮 Still not put it on yet today but I'm going to get up from my nap in a minute so I might have to in order to ease the transition 😂6 -
Karma there were no plot spoilers in my post - I wouldn’t be so mean! 😉After I posted this morning, I discovered that when I turned the hot water off on Thursday to save electricity (it would have been on at that time), I didn’t turn it back on! (Our shower is electric, so we’d not noticed!) More saving them entirely expected!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
