Finally I have a mortgage I can start to pay off!

themadvix said:In fairness to Virgin, the website does say there are waiting times of up to two hours and to contact them by alternative means… which I would, except their website is stupid and unless you want to talk to a chatbot that goes round in circles, you end up going round in circles! It says ‘use a contact form to get in touch’, click contact form, end up back where you started! Utterly infuriating!

Morning all,
Hi TallGirl, thanks for popping by. Unfortunately the chatbot just took me round in circles and then said it couldn't help... 🙄 I'd be more than happy to send a message, deal with someone not by phone, especially as it's not particularly urgent, but there you go...
Viewed a house this morning but it wasn't for us. Hoping to see the one we drove by last night tomorrow evening. It was a nice area, good-sized drive and a double garage. So it has potential. But so much money... I think that's where we both keep getting hung up, especially as it wouldn't be our dream house/location and as we've worked so hard to get to the mortgage being so small now - we'd be taking on a mortgage £80k bigger than our original one.
Have only had a tiny bit of work, so have been updating profiles again, trying Linkedin for job opportunities and the usual depressing look at Indeed for something that might fill some time temporarily... but I'm really hoping the networking/linkedin stuff pays off. My friend with long Covid is still not back at work so no chance of any freelance admin work there and the job I applied for has been put on hold (and I don't really want anyway due to the constraints it poses). Ugh... It's so frustrating! One US client does have some work coming - but I don't when or for how long the increased volume is likely to continue. And I'll have a regular project picking up again at the end of the month, but I could do with another of those types of projects (offset time-wise) really. Or other stuff, I'm not fussed!
MS things:
* Clicks done
* 1P surveys
* Sold a tiny thing on Ebay - mainly making money on the postage
* signed up for free LinkedIn trial
* lots of self-promotion/updating etc. done
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine on our walk to the viewing
* Man is collecting last of the Olio stuff, so I don't need to take it to shelter
* A 'leftover' Portguese custard tart may have made it into my stomach for elevenses!

Such difficult times, and I really admire what you're doing to keep your name known, and put yourself into new markets for your skillset.
The money houses cost is difficult sometimes, isn't it ... I remember when I bought my suburban semi with the big garden. Believe it or not, I thought initially that I should be at home more because it cost such a lot of money I'd better get my money's worth from itutterly insane. In reality, I continued my usual thing of a walk at lunchtime and long days out on the weekends to see friends or do things in London.
And as for Portuguese custard tarts ... a groan of delight is the only appropriate response2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
Thanks Karma. I think 'blue Monday' (which I completely don't subscribe to!) has hit early here. Just feeling very meh! (The Portguese custard tart was delicious - they are my mum's favourite from Olio!)
Have received a small assignment from a client which I've nearly completed (it was less than half an hour's work), but waiting on a response from them. It is from a new client for them (or one I've not dealt with before), so fingers crossed that there will be more from them.
Have downloaded a free piece of software that may enable me to branch out - I need to see how I get on with it first though.
In other news, the origami paper I bought 'second-hand' (obviously it's not!) from Ebay has arrived, so I envisage an evening of paper folding to see what looks good for birthday cards. I've decided to order some recycled paper card blanks (this is permitted by the challenge), as hunting round charity shops on the off-chance of finding card/blanks/envelopes is not a good use of my time (even if I do have too much of it at the moment).
We're meant to be having either freezer curry or freezer burgers for dinner but at the moment I can't be ar**d with either. Like I said, meh! A bad night's sleep was not helpful on that front.
(Sorry SL, the positivity has gone down the pan since your lovely comment!)
MS things:
* 1P now at £20 (but they still owe me the last lot!)
* small amount of TCB confirmed, but will wait until there's a bit more for a payout

I've had a meh day too, just found it hard to get going, hopefully it won't last.

Hey guys - it's cold and dark outside and we're in the middle of a pandemic. I think it's ok to feel a little sad. Remember what brings you joy and make sure you get some of that good stuff. We all need a little lift this time of year.

Thanks Fortune. You’re totally right of course, except it’s been lovely here today! I think tiredness Is the major contributor (and the lack of work - it always gets me down to some extent).
But yes, I’ll try to be kind to myself. Didn’t really want to do yoga this evening but persevered and felt better for it. And decided to cook risotto instead of what I had planned (in the instant pot it’s so easy). An early night is called for I think.
Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling meh too CR. Hope tomorrow is better for you. At least it’s Friday tomorrow!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

That's all very interesting! I've been feeling a bit meh too for a few days and not sure why really.
