Did you consider an RV rental for part of your trip? I haven't looked at prices recently but it's a flexible way of seeing the country and could be a relatively short part of your trip - as lots do one way optionsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Morning all,
Hi SL. We did look at it originally, but that was for the National Parks, where the campsites get booked up super early (like it's chaos in January when they're released). It may be worth revisiting now we'll be amending our plans though. I suspect they are even more expensive though - they were quite pricey to start with.
Olio collection today and I've kept back a perfectly good red pepper and a loaf, as well as two doughnuts for us and some bits for Mum. It's quite quiet though, given the weather is nice. Will be interesting to see what we're left with later. Also had some celery sticks and a couple of veggie wraps with use by dates, so will chop and freeze the celery and have a wrap for lunch.
I've just finished up the big project I was working on for my main client and the parcel I was waiting in for for DH has arrived, so this afternoon I should have time to go to the dump (lucky me!) and maybe get a booster jab - if they'll give me one. I also need to cook the cats' chicken. It's a lovely day here, so I'll walk down to collect the cats' worming tablets later too.
MS things:
* Clicks and comps done
* Olio freebies
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine
* Finally finished that project - it seemed to drag on forever (only myself to blame!)
* A nice chat with an Olioer (who commiserated about the lack of moving)

rtandon27 said:LOL - oh KC you did give me good giggle - I can guarantee you that the current train from Toronto to Niagara is not 2 carriages and most certainly does not pootle! Pre-pandemic groups of seniors of my mom's generation would routinely go to the casino at Niagara for the buffet followed by a few rounds at the slots. They'd be home I time to have dinner with the grandkids!2023: the year I get to buy a car6

I remember when travelling in NZ there was a website for cheap rental, where you took hire cars/campers in the opposite direction to the way people usually travelled and paid as little as $1. Might be worth a look, although there was usually a time frame attachedMortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

Afternoon all,
I did get my jab yesterday afternoon - they were more than happy to have me. As a result though, I'm feeling rather sorry for myself today. I did take the leftover Olio stuff to the homeless shelter, sort out the recycling and wash a litter tray this morning (a rare event in our house as they have clumping litter), but I think that's me done for the day - I might curl up in bed for a bit after this. I've also done a couple of small (very small) bits of work, entered the comps and done my clicks.
Dinner was meant to be veggie chilli, but I didn't put the beans on to soak (IP can cook from dry, but they're much nicer and less energy used if soaked for a bit first), so we'll have to improvise. I won't beat myself up if it's a takeaway - it might depend on how DH is feeling, although it sounds like he's having a busy day. If I feel brighter later I'll go for a gentle walk around the block, but that's about the limit of my plans.
Gratitudes:
* Lovely people at the vacc centre
* Sun is shining here - litter tray dried remarkably quickly
* Work is quiet so I don't have to worry about having a gentle day

You managed to do a lot after your vacc - well done you. I confess that today, after my booster, I just opened a tin of butterbeans
mind you, I'm a bit hungry now!
Hope you sleep well.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Morning all,
Karma, it all went dramatically downhill from there though - I spent the rest of the day curled up in bed or on the sofa with chills, aches and general blurghness. We had Chinese takeaway for dinner as DH didn't get home until gone 6 - we both polished it all off, which is unusual for us - it usually does lunch at least the next day (I'd barely eaten during the day though).
Feeling much better today though, although my arm is still a bit achy. Expecting Dad to turn up soon, as he's just had his jab at the vacc centre and said he'd call round for a cuppa after. Mum is coming after hers later and then I'm heading to meeting Sis and Niece at the in-laws as MIL has knitted a Christmas jumper for NieceAm thinking I'll wangle lifts with Mum (to hers) and Sis (from Mum's to in-laws) as DH is going to his parents to move a sofa later - so he can bring me home! I hope you've followed all of that
Have done a few bitty bits of work. Must cook the cats' chicken this morning between Dad's and Mum's visits.
MS things:
* Comps entered
* Clicks done
* Quite a few little PA surveys done
* YG survey done
* Beans are soaking for chilli tonight
Gratitudes:
* Feeling better, woo!
* Busy social day today
* Takeaway was good last night

Afternoon all,
Thanks Karma and NG. I was fine on Friday, which did turn out as planned and was a busy day. Niece loved her Christmas jumperAnd we (DH and I) ended up staying for takeaway at the in-laws (Chinese two days in a row.... whoops).
Weekend was quite quiet, but we spent much of yesterday planning and rebooking various bits of the US trip. Fortunately we have managed to get some of the costs down - a cheaper hotel in NOL and car hire through qeeq.com which seems to reduce prices significantly. We've also added in a bit of Amtrak and decided to go up the Pacific coast by train and car (breaking the journey in Santa Barbara. We're also stopping in LA for two nights so that we can see a few things there (DH wants to see the space shuttle!) - originally we were only staying one night and literally flying into the airport and driving out, but while we've been told not to expect much, it will be nice to feel we've 'ticked it off' a bit more (and getting the train means we have to venture into the centre too).
There was a bit of work waiting from America this morning and my European client has since sent me something. I've also been working my way through my passwords in my password manager as it was having a hissy fit about them not being secure - I'm up to 50% satisfactory now!
MS things:
* Clicks done
* Comps entered
* Various surveys done over the weekend - nothing like big bills to incentivise survey doing!
* Meals from stores/veg box
* Have picked up a mystery shop this evening for dinner (entirely from having to change my password)
Gratitudes:
* DH's imagination and patience with holiday planning - he comes up with all the good ideas
* Zoom chat with Mum and Uncle briefly last night (we play online Boggle!)
* Gorgeous, if cold here today - and council are clearing the leaves on the paths at last!
