Morning all,
I was released from jury duty yesterday afternoon, so I'm done with that now. I've just completed my claim form, so will pop that in the post later. The amount they pay for loss of earnings is shocking and hasn't increased since last time I did it, not even by a few pence for inflation. 😏
A few things to report MS-wise:
* Bought a new iron (old one, which was £4 from Tesco 9 years ago, leaves marks and although I've tried cleaning it, just can't be trusted anymore) - used S&S vouchers to buy from Argoose. Can now iron and list a couple of DH's shirts on ebay!
* Have had spinach and chard from the garden in dinners for the past two nights - I assume they're both cut and come again type plants! 😅
* Raspberries still going strong
* Dad brought back some Wensleydale from his holiday for us
* Have been eking food out/using Olio, but have finally placed a small supermarket order (tonic for DH was the main requirement!). Will probably go to zero-waste shop later in the week. Jury is still out on veg box....
* Have a couple of bits of work to do today - some from a client and some from the work platform
* Have been doing clicks etc.
* Small ebay saleHad been listed for over a year, but it was only a book, so just sat on the shelf until it sold!
Gratitudes:
* I don't have to return to court - I quite enjoyed serving, but all the to-ing and fro-ing and walking through the fairly dirty, Covid hotspot town I can do without!
* Fresh food from the garden - can't beat it
* A lovely family catch-up on Sunday for my sister's birthday - and the weather held, just!
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

When I've done it, they've just paid me whatever my employer told them I earned (with the same amount deducted from my pay the following month) - I guess it's trickier for the self-employed though?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Newgirly, you never have to apologise for not dropping in! We’re all busy!
SC, wondered who’d spot that! 😂 I don’t think the jury people paid you, they only pay the same whether employed or self employed - it’s up to your employer to pay the difference.

Ah, it may have changed in the last few years then, it's been a good few years since my last (third!) stint! Or I may just have had an unscrupulous employer whose company policy was to declare I wouldn't be getting paid at all by them in my absence - hence them docking it back from me after I got paid the same money twice....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
