Evening all,
Thanks ladies. Jury service didn't go at all today - wasn't picked for a case on Monday and didn't have to go in today, which was nice. Have been summoned for the morning though. Cheery, a nice picnic spot is a necessity I've decided - it felt very unpleasant everywhere else outside the courthouse and if I've not got work to do, then getting outside is a must (no lockers though, sorry if I've mentioned this above - so will have to take lappy with me - a quiet spot by the university will be much safer!)
Have finished unpacking today, done some washing (not put out though because the weather is changeable to say the least!), stewed rhubarb, frozen more raspberries, done various bits of housework and my evening class homework (which was fortunately easier than expected - am very fed up with it at the moment, but that's because it's on Zoom). Nabbed some free bread on Olio last night and will make sandwiches to take to the court tomorrow (thus benefiting as far as possible from the food allowance). Lunch was a single frozen portion of beans on Olio toast (is there any other sort?). DH was out at the pub for a work do, so we're having shakshuka for dinner.
MS things:
* Shuffled some money left over from glasses fund (did I mention I've ordered new ones? Didn't need to for prescription but coating has started to come off right in the middle of the lenses - they are 4 years old) - £65 to savings
* Clicks done
* Frozen raspberries
* Ebay sale- only a tiny profit on the item, but converted stamps to cash
* My Olio collection in the morning (going to have fun with the collections around court time!)
Gratitudes:
* Easy evening class homework - hard stuff might have been the last straw
* So many raspberries I can pick and freeze, eat some daily and pick them off the bush and put them straight in my mouth!
* Intervals of sunshine - did get a walk in (to PO) and managed a few bits in the garden

Ooh, how lovely to have raspberries! I've not seen a single one here (actually, I have seen ONE - disappearing into a chicken's beak...).
Do we know what your evening class is? Sorry it's a bit rough going 🙄
You've reminded me we've got a load of rhubarb here as well - I might chop and freeze until I can think of something to do with it.7 -
I’ve just portioned up my rhubarb for the freezer Cherry… usually manage to half fill freezer with rhubarb and red currants, not sure how I’ll fit the raspberries in too! Sadly no room for more freezer space here though - so raspberries take priority!
Erm, no, I haven’t shared what my evening class is to maintain a modicum of anonymity…. Though I’m sure anyone who knew me and read this could work out who I was!! It’s good, just my head isn’t in that space at the moment and my heart isn’t in it because it’s Zoom. Only tonight and next week though before we get a break for the summer. And we might even meet in person in September (although the others don’t seem keen! 😏)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Rhubarb, red currants and raspberries all make excellent gin MV... in case you can't get them all in the freezer 😉

Ooh, excellent suggestion - and you've reminded me I still haven't finished drinking my damson gin! 😁5

I have lots of redcurrants as well as rhubarb this year, because of how strongly my neighbour cut my laurel - an ill wind etc.
The jury service experience sounds interesting, but not very enjoyable at all - quite fraught, actuallyI hope the battery charge on your laptop lasts a good long time tomorrow.

My parents soft fruit patch always produces more than they can cope with, fortunately, they have a friend who loves jam making - but doesn't like jamI'm looking forward to the first of our cucumbers in the next week or so.2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8566

Thanks for the suggestion Fortune - especially for the rhubarb, my husband loves really expensive Whitley Neill rhubarb gin, so this is definitely a winner!
Karma, jury service is annoying as your time is not your own, but it’s ok. They have WiFi and you can plug laptops in as they know some people need/want to work. Back here again today and think/hope I’ll be assigned a case as then I’ll at least have a rough idea of how things will pan out. That said, I know I have lots of work arriving tonight, so a day off tomorrow would be handy….
Brought my own lunch and have done my Olio collection…. So something MSE related!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Afternoon all,
About to be called back into court but thought I’d write a quick post. Work arrived yesterday afternoon, so I’ve been doing that around court time (and during lunch).Picked up a very peculiar selection of items from Olio friend last night - it seems the Tesco she collects from was getting rid of its Polish section! So a couple of chocolate wafer biscuits, some pickled onions, and a weird drink, as well as carrots and courgettes (and a lettuce - didn’t request this but my friend was given 58 of them to rehome and I think she was giving everyone one ‘free’ with their collection!) Also some plums and prepared fruit.As a result, am breaking the record for making the most of court lunch allowance - only paid for a spread of jam, peanut butter and butter on my sandwiches today - everything else was from Olio, so full £5.71 lunch allowance pocketed! 😂
Expecting more work soon but hoping I’ll get slightly longer than planned to do it as it should have arrived last night - hoping I’ll have until Monday (US time) instead of Friday.We’re having dinner out with a friend and his partner tonight (not met her before), so no cooking. (Cancelled this week’s veg box, did I mention that?)
