Morning all,
Currently listening to James Clear's Atomic Habits, which is having all the right influences - up at 7 this morning, no phone in bed, stretches and a walk round the block before work. I will have to implement his techniques to keep it up, of course, but I love how self-help books always make me want to put them down and get on with stuff - and now, listening, I don't have to. I do need to sort some insurance cover for my headphones though, they are easily dropped (one fell out of my ear this morning - but an unusual occurrence).
Working this morning and then after lunch (Olio bread), I'm going to have a cuppa inside at my Sis's as she has requested a hug!
MS things:
* Collected some rolls and a small loaf - rolls in the freezer as we may be having DH's family for a BBQ at the weekend, loaf for lunches
* Clicks/spins etc. done
* PA survey done
* Realised my meal plan had some flaws, so have adapted it - veggie spag bol last night; comte rosti tonight (DH got comte in the last cheese subscription box and it has languished for quite a while (nearly two months?!) as we didn't know what to do with it, so it's time to use it up).
* Picked up bananas and nectarines on Olio yesterday - all in excellent condition (unusually for bananas), so healthy snacks this week!
* Confirmed that BIL and fiancee will look after cats for our holiday - we can pay them and still save on cattery fees, which is great but the main reason is to make sure stressy B&W cat is less stressed (currently considering booking a cat behaviourist, at great expense!)
Gratitudes:
* Fun PS5 time with DH yesterday
* Freegler has found another embroidered tablecloth for me - really sweet of her as she gave me two last week
* Free food saved from landfill - and healthy too, which is needed at the moment - too many croissants of late!

Morning all,
Yes, it was Karmaso nice! Seeing them again today too. Have visited my furry charge for the first time this morning - he was pleased to see me and very friendly. A nice straightforward visit - still can't believe I get paid to make a fuss of cats
Off to the zero-waste shop shortly for a small top-up (mainly because niece is getting her hair cut nearby and sis asked if mum and I wanted to go - not for the hair cut, but moral support I think!).
MS things:
* Dart charge refund of £16.64 arrived. Still cross that they thought it was OK to keep this! It was a cheque 🙄 but at least I could pay it into my Starling account. It's cleared now. Some will go off the mortgage, and the remainder is being split between savings and helping my cc bill.
* Load of washing in the machine for an optimistic line dry!
* When I added my new bookie freebie games to my daily clicks I discovered some cash in one of the bookie accounts - have left £10 in there so it doesn't look quite so dodgy but transferred ~£22 to my a/c. Will have a check and see if it's arrived - if so it'll get the same treatment as the Dart charge money
* Clicks done
* The comte rosti was really nice last night
* Dinner tonight will be prawn laksa using up spinach and lemongrass
* Santa monthly 1% cashback (less fee) added to bits above = £14.63 OPMortgage = £41220.46
Gratitudes:
* A welcoming kitty at the front door to see me this morning
* A hug with my Sister yesterday
* Free money from the bookiesgetting the hang of the free spin and then having to play the money through - takes time though, all the loading and faffy graphics!

Afternoon all,
Ugh... it seems that while Ernie (Premium Bonds) doesn't like me, the jury service selection machine does... so just over two years after I did it, I've been selected again - it just isn't as nice as a PB win! It's booked in for the fortnight after we get back from holiday, so I can look forward to a huge fall in income for that month (jury service will pay something towards it, but not until after the event 🙄). At least this time I know what to expect (aside from the joy of social distancing and mask wearing - beginning of July, so I'm pretty sure we'll still be doing this) and I quite enjoyed it - but when I had thought 'oh yes, I'd like to do it again', I wasn't thinking quite so soon! Also, last time they paid for my parking (the bus being hugely convoluted), but I was lucky then and I'm not sure I will be this time as others didn't get it paid last time either. At least with social distancing I'm less likely to contract the flu from another juror....Oh joy....
Anyway, after the trip to the zero-waste shop/child hairdressers, mum, sis, niece and I went for a lovely walk, ending up at a pub that does very nice chips!! Niece is such a proper little girl now (total tomboy though) - you can have great conversations with her and she's pretty well-behaved when sitting waiting for food.

Can you refuse jury service if you've done it before? Or is there a time limit for that?2

The time limit is two years... it was February 2019.... I'm not impressed! 🙄Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh blimey Vix that is soon to be called again!Glad you had a nice hug this week, I did the same with my mum on Monday 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2
-
Oh no!! No I wouldn't be impressed either. I found it interesting but quite depressing (one of our trials was called off because the defendant threw himself off a bridge after the first night ☹)3

Mr F has just been called too! He's delighted as he's always wanted to do it. I've been called twice before so I'm hoping I've done enough of my duty. I know there's a huge backlog of court cases though so I'm sure they'll be needing more jurors than ever.
