Morning all,
Thanks Karma. I seem to have done OK with my first collection - my 'team' seem to think so (you get put in a group chat with the others who collect from the same store - good for moral and technical support). So much food would be wasted though if it wasn't collected - must have been horrendous before Olio. (To clarify, charities always get first dibs on collection slots, so Olio only take what charities can't collect and if charity does decide it can collect, Olio lose the slot).
Well Mum, Sis and Niece took up residence for a lot of yesterday, staying for lunch in the end. Niece wanted to go for a walk but the weather just wasn't safe to do that, kept tipping it down. I managed a walk after they'd left, and did a couple of small bits of work that had arrived. DH and I had one-pan daal with cod (out of freezer) for dinner, which we've not had a in while, and I made some naans to go with it. Between leftover buns from the BBQ, leftover Olio stuff (some frozen for my sister) and the naans, the freezer is now full of bread!
As planned, our medium veg box last week will last us another week (much better vfm, presumably because picking and transportation costs are lower), so have cancelled veg box delivery. Will need to order some extra milk though. We'll have shakshuka tonight - using peppers and tomatoes from the veg box. May serve it with garlic bread (to use some of the bread up) rather than rice/couscous.
Have a couple of proper bits of work to do this morning and I also need to collect a worming tablet from the vets (there was one missing when I opened the pack).
MS things:
* Clicks done
* YG surveys done
* Will walk to vets - no plans to use the car today
* No takeaways - am resisting the call of the 50% off voucher from Ubereats in my inbox. I may use some S&S vouchers to make this a free meal, but not tonight. We haven't had a takeaway in at least two (possibly three) weeks, so feeling much happier about the balance now!
Gratitudes:
* Everyone who collected yesterday said thank you.And it did feel good saving food from the bin and helping people feed their families (I get the feeling for a couple of them it was definitely a help, rather than just saving the planet - ultimately of course it helps even if you can afford it!)
* Lovely sweet grapes in my portion
* Work

So are you some kind of special distributor for Olio Vix? Or is this an informal arrangement you've got? Trying to get my head round how it works!4

Hi Cheery, yes, Tesco have a tie up with Olio so that what would be food waste is taken away and redistributed. I have completed training through Olio (on food hygiene and the process) and have claimed a regular slot for collections (via the Olio app). If you want to approach other businesses and get them to sign up, that's possible too. (And there are plenty of smaller, more local businesses on there too) I think Tesco linking up with them gave them the appeal to a wider audience- they've been there as a 'freecycle for food' for a long time, but people don't share food often enough to give it the momentum it needed.
I've just been asked by my Olio friend if I would cover her Friday night slot - loads of chilled food with use by dates, so has to be collected that night by midnight... she often doesn't finish listing until 10 and I'm normally in bed by then! I'll do it this time (and maybe again for cover), but I'd never take on a regular night-time slot! (But you might get flowers, which is nice!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I also had the Milk and More email but I can't see that they have taken a payment so not expecting anything back. I did put a cracked-neck bottle out with a note on it (whole organic replaced by silver top) - I was not anticipating any adjustment for that thoughSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning all,
SL, I assumed it was possibly from an older charge on the account as it was related to the system update (maybe when they switched payment system a couple of years (?) ago). Not that I’ve had any money back yet.
Yesterday was extremely busy with a busy vacc centre shift in the afternoon and then collecting my friend’s evening Olio collection. I fitted work in around it and also did a bit of food shopping as in my madness invited friend for a bbq today.
The evening Olio collection was chaotic, but mum came to help (just as well as I think I’d have driven DH mad). The vast majority of the stuff was taken though, which is good. Didn’t get to bed until midnight though and B&W cat woke us up at 6.45… 🙄
MS things:
* YG survey
* PC survey
* clicks done
* kept some flowers, yoghurt and quiche for my 10% from collection (sent mum home with some flowers too - we listed over 80 items)
* hopefully have a week of cat sitting booked for August 😊 (new client too and in walking distance)
Gratitudes
* thanks from everyone who collected
* mum’s help
* I look young for my age (checking in people at vacc centre - all about my age, (I can see their DOB) but some have definitely worn better than others!)
Friends coming for lunch today which will be lovely. Have some bananas to collect for choccy nanas on the bbq later.Have a good BH weekend all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Me too 🤣 it comes up any age, doesn't it. Check out a modern pic of William Shatner - the man's 90 years old, and he looks and talk like he did in his TJ Hooker days! Bit tubbier, that's true 🤣2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Lol you lot! I think the same sometimes. Mr Cheery is, er, about four years younger than my dad 😮😮 but honestly, looking at them both you'd say there was 20 years difference 😮5

No refund here either TMV. Also none taken on Friday for next week's deliveries!
William Shatner - dodgy old period in the middle (picture of him and Christopher Plummer when I googled his image) though! During his excessive phase!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Yep, it's a matter of attitude as well as age ... positives for Mr Cheery there, and a few for Bill Shatner, though he's had some very ropy times, it's true **bites lip so as not to go off on a tangent**. focussing back on madvix's bbq and choccy nanas, yay2023: the year I get to buy a car3
