I'm glad a resolution has been found, something really problematic in the background can be very undermining. Here's to beautiful sunrises too!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

If I were you, I would consider renting a house instead of buying... As for my opinion, It is too hard to live with the mortgage loan. No free travel, no relocation, no nice new job possibilities (as a lot would need you to relocate). I wouldn't do that, my freedom is too precious to get tied with the mortgage((0

Morning all,
Well I've just been and exercised my democratic right to make my mind up on the spot (seriously considered spoiling my ballot paper). Busy day today, finishing off work as I'm off on an NTBB adventure tomorrow.
MS things:
* Cashed out on PA - not quite at £20, but close enough
* RM survey items posted
* Meal out last night - using survey vouchers and a free dessert voucher from DH's birthday it was just £6.50 to pay (which DH did!)
* Have turned some RM survey credit into NT gift cards - going to buy part of my mum's present there tomorrow (while she's not looking), and we can have a cuppa too
* DH won a hamper in a charity raffle at work. Some nice (sadly very plasticky and palm-oily) goodies in there - to use, give as presents and a few bits for the food bank
Gratitudes:
* I have the right to vote - for ever grateful to those who fought for this right - if you're registered to vote today, VOTE - people died to get you that right!
* A damp walk in the drizzle
* Goodies to enjoy from the hamper (and I'd say my *extortionately* priced Riverford mince pies... but I feel they're a real let down - there was some plastic and the pastry is really soft??)
* I have plenty (too much, really, always looking for more to get rid of). Others aren't so lucky.

Your first gratitude is the same as mine. Our Son has had it drilled into him that even if there are things he does not like about each candidate, he must exercise his right because people died to get that vote for all. He now makes sure all his friends have registered and they all vote too. Of course my actual vote is completely immaterial, because we live in a one-party stronghold, but it is the principle that matters. 100% - that sounds a bit ranty but it's more about my passion for the historical achievements of working men and women (and middle class men and women!). Rant away SL, I feel very strongly that we should all vote - or at least spoil the paper, having made the effort to go and think about it. As you say, so many people, and definitely not just the suffragettes, died for our right to have a say. Well done to your son for getting his friends to vote.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ditto on the voting rights ... they were hard won, for all of us. I have spoilt it in the past, but now I've heard that votes are counted up nationally to award funding for central offices at Westminster - so if you have a minority party you vote for (even in a one party stronghold, I love that phrase, its still worthwhile doing it).
Madvix, shame about the Riverford mince pies - but well done you for distributing the hamper goodies carefully. I've got out of the habit of written gratitudes, must go back to that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all,
Think we're readier than we've ever been for Christmas here - I've even started my manic decluttering before the big day (usually between Christmas and New Year). I might buy a couple more small bits today, but if not, it's not the end of the world. Otherwise, all that's being wrapped is wrapped and the house is tidy and decorated. A whole host of people collecting things from my back step today from Freegle!
Had a bit of a confusion with the lady whose cats I'm meant to be sitting today until Boxing Day. She had train troubles yesterday and I don't yet have a key (nor has she confirmed booking to pay). However, it should all be sorted now and she's obviously getting a different train away for Christmas to the planned one, so cats will be looked after today and I'll go round tomorrow.
As a result of worrying about that all night, I did not sleep well and feel like a zombie. Off for a walk with my sister and niece later - hope I wake up a bit by then! Small amount of work done for US clients, but frankly, no one is working at this point, so not expecting anything more until after Christmas now.
Have had notice that I've done my stint on RM survey, so that will dry up in the New Year.
Have been considering aims/mottoes etc. for the New Year. Will let you know when I've decided/settled on them.
Haven't really been doing clicks etc. as have been away from desk, but have done the odd survey.
If I'm not back on here before Wednesday, have a Very Merry Christmas everyone! :santa2::rudolf::xmastree::xmassign::xmassmile: :snow_grinMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

:santa2: Merry Christmas to you too, madvix, when you're that well prepared, you really can enjoy it
though sorry you're temporarily zombified
Are you going to a twilighty thing at any NT properties? I haven't checked your blog, sorrybut they definitely seem to be a thing round here. I was reading another 99p Stella Rimington novel, and she actually mentions annual NT membership :rotfl: so you never know who that older lady behind you might be :rotfl:

No twilighty things, but we are going to NT woods later, with a Christmas pudding trail. They do seem all the rage, but public transport in the evenings is less than reliable! (I feel able to admit on here that we’re going by car for our walk later... not sure some of my Twitter followers would approve, some are quite anti-car!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Agreed on the public transport - the bus I get to my sister's stops at 5.30
so I'll get a bus from hers to the local shopping town at around 7pm, and there's a train from that town to mine! Complicated, but worth it for once a year
Puddings, though .... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
