I remember a conversation with the mother of DS's school friend - must be 15 years ago now but stuck fast in the memory - she was the second family and gaily told me her husband was going bankrupt - working for a major international bank - and that she matched everything he paid his ex wife for his older children - their school fees, she spent on herself. Make-up, cosmetics, facials, clothes and other (imho) unnecessary rubbish - over £500 a month. I felt quite sick. They lost their house (mortgaged and remortgaged up to 98%) and she took half his pension when she divorced him. He lives in a rented place. She found a richer husband.

    Shocking. To this day.

    Wow. Just wow.

I'm really not sure I have anything to add.... except how can people be so, so utterly vile??! Poor guy :(

Edited to say: just picked up an MS - they rang me, must be desperate! Can combine with visit to Mum later in the week for minimal extra petrol, so should be good. Briefly, current thinking on house situation is to keep saving, so every penny helps! (Further, more insightful plan to follow holiday hopefully!)

Oh my word! The toxic behaviours around money never cease to amaze me :( But good for you and your non-toxicity :):):) looking forward to your detailed plan after the holibob! I'm currently hatching a plan to get matched betting to pay for holidays :) which I'll do as soon as my kitchen's back in order (though I don't need to wait for it to be painted, so not long now!).

    Morning all,

Pretty good start to the day so far - have ticked 3 items of work off my list. The next/last will take quite a bit longer, but hopefully will get through the majority of it today. That should leave me free to get packing and stuff done (and do the MS) tomorrow. Another rather grey and wet day here, so haven't yet ventured down the garden to see how my crops are doing :) There were flowers on the runners yesterday, tiny tomatoes forming and a squash had sprouted! (Probably been eaten since, but at least I know it was worth planting the massively OOD seeds.)

    MS things:
    * Used bits up in dinner last night (sauce from the weekend)
    * HM bread for lunch today (and toast shortly)
    * Clicks etc. Having problems with the Discover on SBs, so am 'Watching' instead at the moment... technically works out better, but longer (still minimal) effort required.

    Gratitudes:
    * A walk between the rain last night with DH
    * Dinner was tasty despite me making it up!
    * Ginger cat sitting next to lappy keeping me company :)

Tea and toast time now (got to use the hm marmalade!). Have a good day all!

ETA: Meant to say - I love your MB/holiday plan Karma, sounds perfect!

Just had to share that we've at loooong last booked out flights to the States! (only outbound!!) It was great fun deciding which Upper Class seats we wanted! :D

Return flights won't be available for a few days yet (probably while we're away, maybe our first day back), so we'll pick them up then, once we've juggled miles/points around). We're going! Hooray! (Next May!)

Well, not really.... we're flying into Atlanta from Heathrow..... that's as far as is confirmed! :rotfl: The plan from there would be drive to Nashville for 3 nights, then back to Atlanta to catch a flight to New Orleans for 3 nights, then remainder spent in an unspecified way in CA somewhere, probably trying to wedge too much in! The first part we'd pinned down pretty well in January - even found places to stay and things to do/timings etc., but California is still a big undecided! (I know too much really as have been reading it's tourism website for work-related purposes!)

It was more a case of booking the reward flights while they were available. :)

    Just a bit :rotfl :rotfl:

You're right, France is much sooner and I must get this work done before I go! (And not get distracted by PA surveys... although doing quite well today, both work-wise and survey-wise.)
