    ooh, good progress here, well done! :j :j :j

    Definitely good to get a feel for what you don't want (and what you could put up with even if it's not what you ACTUALLY want). We ended up making all kinds of compromises on what I initially thought we wanted :rotfl:

    But bizarrely, right at the start, I was bemoaning the fact that what we wanted was enough downstairs rooms to have a living room, kitchen room and separate 'music room', but houses like that all seemed to come with far more bedrooms than we needed. Strangely enough (although I didn't make the connection til we'd already moved in), our actual new house has two downstairs extensions - so we have enough downstairs rooms to have living room, kitchen, music room AND a study for me to work in - but only three bedrooms :rotfl: So it all worked out nicely in the end :D

    Good luck with the hotel :eek: I confess I would have been amused by what you were hearing :o :rotfl: but Mr Cheery absolutely would NOT :eek: so I would have had a rotten night anyway :rotfl: When we've stayed in hotels (which we do together only very rarely for this very reason) it's usually other people's tvs that we can hear!

    Hi Cheery!

    We have a similar situation - don't need hundreds of bedrooms, but would like lots of downstairs space. Glad you found what you were looking for in the end. I confess, we haven't actually gone to see the house yet (it is still on the market though so not too late yet - just the thought of dealing with estate agents!).

    I didn't want to tell the couple that we could hear them, because I thought they might just be the type that would get a kick out of it and therefore prolong the situation!! :eek: The main issue is I'm a light sleeper and was just about to fall asleep when they returned to their room - so I really didn't want any noise! The lack of privacy the 'door' afforded was shocking though. I'm a bit of a moaner about noise in hotel rooms (usually TVs) , but it's never been this bad previously!

    Morning all,

    A quick update as I'm off out visiting old people with Mum shortly. Caught up on work that I need to do before I go (and DH is away so I can always work this evening if I feel like it).

    On the NSW challenge.... well DH bought a holdall yesterday (he's been wanting something for a long time and he needed it for going away, so I can't really complain...), so that's scuppered that! However, I no longer have to buy my uncle a birthday card as found one (acquired from nan's house) that is perfect - money saved!

    MS bits:
    * Taking hm bara brith to Mum's, rather than buying a Belgian bun (which isn't a habit, but fancied one last week - fortunately/unfortunately the bakery had sold out and I didn't fancy what was left!).
    * Small Bay sale (postage profit too from free survey stamps) - another thing out of the house (and freegler coming tomorrow for another bag of bits)
    * Dinner from freezer tonight :)
    * Last night's A Girl Called Jack smoky lentil burgers were a winner and remaining hm pittas now in freezer :) Will do the burgers again.
    * Heating off....! And staying that way, I hope!

    Gratitudes:
    * A car to use today - will make the most of it and get out of the house
    * Good evening class last night - additional effort is paying off
    * Flylady means my house is a nice place to be :)

    Have a good day all!

    Afternoon all,

    Yesterday was lovely, visiting 'old rellies' (not all actually related!) with Mum. Didn't spend any money either, and only used a little bit of fuel. Much the same again today - and more work. So NSD today too.

    MS things:
    * Clicks etc.... only just remembered to do them now
    * NSD (thanks Mum for lunch :) )
    * Dinner from menu plan
    * DH being away has meant we won't need to buy as much/any milk
    * Have actually written cheques for expenses owed from Brownies - now just to get to the bank
    * Found 5p on the road!

    Gratitudes:
    * Being allowed to have my Nan's engagement ring - it's something that really reminds me of her and was the basis for my wish to have a three-ring stone
    * Line dried washing :)
    * Spring bulbs in the garden :)

    Afternoon all,

    I'm going to have to get used to taking the ring off and putting it back on... my engagement ring is much more robust and I'm not very gentle with it. The band on Nan's is much thinner, so I'll have to be careful with it and take it off for washing up/baking/gardening (I really do put mine through the mill!). I'm really glad I made the decision to keep it (it had been taken to the auction house, but I spoke up and retrieved it).

    Try Harder - heating is off on timer, but we can still press it for an hour here and there (and have done). Imagine with an Aga it is a more permanent decision!

    DH is out doing work on my car so it's ready for it's MOT next week. I'm in the warm, working.... I did take him a hot chocolate a while ago (he doesn't drink tea or coffee, the most he'll stretch to is an occasional hot choc!). Still plenty of work for me, although not the insane amounts of a few weeks ago, which is a relief.

    MS things:
    * Naughty American clients paid *on time* yesterday, so very happy with that
    * Clicks etc. done
    * New recipe last night needed work, but will definitely try again.
    * Plenty in for meals over weekend - will buy milk today, but still sticking to A(lmost)NSW
    * Darned a pair of socks last night (with vintage inherited darning mushroom and help from YouTube)

    Gratitudes:
    * You lot, for understanding how important Nan's ring is to me
    * A clever husband who understands cars like I understand baking
    * Company on the drive to brownies later - will drop DH off at his parents for the duration - it will make the travel much less tedious

    Have a good afternoon all - it's nearly the weekend!
