:mad::mad::mad: Just lost long post!
Crumpets Airbnb didn't seem any cheaper tbh, but will look more closely. Thanks for that Busy Mee - not considered that before and it certainly might add a bit of luxury to the trip!
Yesterday was a drama - short version now provided: my car wouldn't start (lunchtime, meant to be going with mum to Nan's house for EA meeting and freecycler), sis called 5pm - going to A&E with stomach pains, mum and I had to collect niece from nursery, DH and I babysat while t'others all at hospital. Late night, DH got car started this am and has taken it to work. Sis ok, but they think kidney stones - on painkillers and then to have an 'urgent' scan (within two weeks!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ooh so frustrating when posts get lost
Sorry my suggestion was no good, I don't have anything else to suggest other than a motor home. I hope you find something though *crosses fingers*
I hope you have a less drama filled day today, ouch to kidney stones
Thanks for the credit card info, I'm not sure which to go for yet. Avios looks better but I don't want an AMEX card. We might stick with Tesco in order to convert our clubcard pointsMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

No need to apologise - we do need to look more closely - in fact, having completed payday etc., I've literally just opened a tab with Airbnb in it!
I've never booked (DH has), so have found a £25 off first booking discount - will make use of that if we book something with them!
Can I ask why you don't want an AMEX? (Feel free to ignore if it's too personal) We found it to be the best option for getting bonuses - it's how we paid for the kitchen, which netted us a lot of miles.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It's because a lot of places don't accept them...unless that has improved since I last looked at getting one?Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

I think they are becoming more common now. But in my experience if you get an Amex through another company (we had Virgin Atlantic ones, but they've stopped the points now) they send you a Visa as well. One bill, two cards.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Your poor sister! I've met several people who've had kidney stones, and *everyone* talks about how painful they are
One of them also talks about flushing the liver with olive oil? Doctors are against it though.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all,
Thanks Karma, but definitely not going there - her liver is a bit touchy from previous removal of gall bladder (which was embedded in it!).
So have shuffled Ebay money to savings, along with other bits and pieces - I have the smaller income and the more varying expenses, so while I can only put odd bits in (which do add up), DH is able to put away a chunk each month, so fortunately building savings is not quite as slow as it sounds from my diary! Reduced a couple of bits on ebay, so hope for some more sales soon.
Have enjoyed a potter around the family tree this morning, doing some necessary updates - one sad, but several marriages and births since I last did any. Also caught up on evening class homework - just a little bit more to do tomorrow.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Sorry to hear you’re sister is not well, fingers crossed she gets the scan ASAP.
The holiday sounds amazing, I’m interested to know how you get on with booking accommodation there, it sounds like my dh’s dream holiday and I may need to pinch ideas for the futureMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
