Petrol money onlyreally:eek:
well i voted for petrol money only
any bad feelings will last a life time otherwise
just like a mate who always went to the toilet when we went to the pub and it was his round (thats 35 years ago and he still gets reminded he was and probably still is a skinflint
I have a friend who has a large brandy & coke except on his own round he either has a normal single or just a coke. He buys all our drinks as normal except his own . Now i cant work out if its right or wrong ,not even sly because he has no bones about it and just orders it. Off topic sorry but heyho. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
If I were your passenger, I'd give you £50 to drive somewhere other than Blackpool :j
Just kidding - it's great for a night out. I'd say £20 each from your passengers. It's not just what it costs in fuel, it's what they're saving (time, hassle, ££) by not going on public transport.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -
Petrol money + little extra for extra mileage on car, wear & tear, having to drive etcI know friendship is important but not everyone can afford £60 in petrol plus all of the costs of a hen do - I don't think she should even need to ask - the others should be offering. OP how much will it cost the other driver - could you agree between you the costs and what you are going to ask for?
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

They are offering - she just can't work out what to charge. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Petrol money onlyI would ask £15 per person, if it was me I would just give you a £20.0

Petrol money + little extra for extra mileage on car, wear & tear, having to drive etcWell it would cost £62.80 return on the train with at least one change so I would be more than happy to give you £30 to sit in a car whilst someone else drives and not have to worry about changing trains or finding a seat!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Or just tell them it will probably take about £60 of fuel so either £15 or £20 each depending on how many are coming with you. And get it up front.
However I'd also not take any money if it were me; I've never taken money for fuel, as friendship is a symbiotic relationship and what I get back more than covers fuel.
I only really know two people who are going well, the hen and my friend who is organising it so it's likely two of the people (hen would go with her sister who is driving) I wouldn't have met before and probably won't see again after the hen do as I'm not invited to the wedding (yet anyway).
I definately can't afford to pay out petrol all on my own and I don't see why I should. If that was the case, I'd get the train to save the hassle of driving.
Before when I went with other friends to Blackpool someone else drove and we excluded them from paying any petrol money so split it just between the 4 passengers because the driver had the horrible job of driving back hungover and no-one else wanted to drive but not sure if everyone else would see this as fair?0 -

For goodness sakes - do what you want to do! If you don't even know the people involved how would we know if they are going to think it's fair?
We also don't know the state of your finances - or who you do or don't know in the party.
Why can't people make a decision any more?
Work out what it's gonna cost you and then work out what you think it's worth to drive. Then tell whoever you need to tell how much it's going to cost them to hitch a ride with you. If all the people don't agree then take the train.
Sheesh. It's really not rocket science. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
