Well the thread is over 5 years old and a lot of the posts you are replying to are well over a year or more old.0

There could be rapists, sex offenders and even murderers working for PC Callout, and no-one would be the wiser. Afterall, if you phone a so called reputable company you expect their staff to have been vetted to some degree surely.
Ask the BBC to look into it.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
I have just come across this place advertising for positions in my area, i see some people have had problems getting paid and some not, perhaps the didn't send or fill in the invoices correctly?
There was also a comment "You only get paid for the time on site, and not at a particularly high rate." which does not seem to make sense, My last job paid about £7 p/h, just above the minimum wage, many jobs don't even pay that so i fail to see how £15 for the first hour and £7.50 thereafter can be described as not a particularly high rate, and it seems to me that contrary to some comments about stretching jobs out to get more pay, you are in fact going to earn more if can resolve issues within one hour, assuming you have a reasonable supply of calls, at this rate 4 calls a day would put me on the same pay as i was getting for 8 hours a day in my last job. But i would question the £5 no fix payment as I'm not sure that's actually legal being below the minimum wage, I think a few of those would be a problem. Personally i think it's worth a try at least, but if you have the skills to do this successfully, can create your own site and get it in the searches you might be better off going totally solo.0 -

Don't go near them!!!!!!!!!! I called them out on 13th Aug and the engineer paid 3 visits and the machine still crashed continually. Added to this he talked me into buying a new hard drive, a new external hard drive, keyboard and mouse at a cost of £252.95. He told me they were all damaged and when I gave him the original vista CDs to reinstall, he refused and suggested I install windows 7. That was no longer available so he said I had no choice but to buy windows 8. My husband collected it from Maplin as every minute is chargeed while the engineer is on the job and the would have taken him an hour.
After spending a further 3 hours he left with nothing achieved and presented me with a bill for £178.20. He slyly said he'd only charge for 4 hours instead of 5 if I gave him a £20 cash backhander. Does the company know this??
Two days later I called the company again to tell them that my PC was no better and he came back and suggested the memory chips may need replacing. He tested those and declared them working perfectly well. He fiddled about for a further 2 hours and left stating that everything was now working. That was rubbish.
Therefore I asked for a refund as stated in their policy if the work failed. No such luck. 5 weeks on I'm told the engineer reported that I'd forced him to install windows 8 which is a downright lie. Another expert has now found that the problem was a faulty motherboard. The hard drives, keyboard and mouse work perfectly well so I wasted my money on all these replacements. I'm now talking to my solicitor and trading standards. The company works in a fraudulant way and I paid a further £20 cash to the engineer on his last visit as he said he had travelled a long way and wouldn't be paid for the revisit.
I am absolutely furious, especially as I've since read other bad reviews along the same line. One of the quotes was that they cheated on the older generation, believing they were too naive to complain. This old bird is 66 and I'm fighting for other elderly folk who may fall into the PC CALLOUT LTD trap.0 -
Hi, noob here.
Basically, I just applied to work for these guys and have had the "interview" if you can call it that, and the t&c`s. Just at the stage where I fill out a few forms and send them off. I've read through all the posts as well.
I could go on for ever and dissect everything, but ill pick on a few things to start off which I don`t think can be disputed. The mileage payment they offer is 15p per mile. Now, you don`t get a company vehicle, so you use your own vehicle. HMRC states that...(I also get this rate from another employer currently as well).
"Employee vehicles: mileage payments for business travel ; CAR = For tax purposes: 45p for the first 10,000 business miles in a tax year, then 25p for each subsequent mile"
..unless Pc Callout`s offer of 15p is a contribution of sorts, towards the 45p?, thus leaving you to claim the other 30p through the HMRC?
OH, the other thing with the "No-Fix, No fee" is if you cant fix the problem...you get payed a flat £5 pounds with NO mileage allowance. !!!!!!?
OH, the other thing, car insurance, no mention of it in the welcome pack, SO...we have to assume that legally speaking, we have to up the car insurance from "Social, domestic, and pleasure" too a business type insurance?, at some point we could be carrying new spare parts, some tools etc. Very expensive insurance, would the 15p cover that?, running costs, fuel? I think no.0 -
Well, they fixed the problem in the end, but I certainly wouldn't use them again!!
On 25/4/14 I had a visit from one of their engineers. He couldn't repair the computer onsite, so removed it and returned it the next day, having reloaded Windows 7. (Cost £178.20.) He said I might experience glitches and that if I did I should text him and he would phone me.
Over the next few days, there were many glitches: links wouldn't open and I kept getting the message 'class not registered'. But when I went to text the engineer I found he had withheld his number when he rang my mobile.
On 29/4, I twice rang PC Callout and was assured that the engineer had been asked to phone me urgently. He didn't. I also sent two messages, the second of which, at the end of the day, threatened action in the small claims court. This elicited a text saying the engineer had been trying to contact me that day with a view to a visit. I replied that this was not possible as I had been at home all day.
I rang again early the next morning, spoke to the sender of the text and asked for her supervisor. She snapped back that there was no supervisor and began shrieking at me: 'You're lying to me! The engineer did ring you. Stop telling me lies! You're a liar! Take us to court, then!' I assured her that I would and ended the call.
I thought that I would have to take them to court - but ten minutes later the engineer was on the phone and he visited the same morning. He mentioned while working that this was a chargeable call and I said I thought not. He didn't press the point.
The computer is now working but this is not the experience you expect!0
