I wonder how many contain links to Old Style...?

What took them so long? Wake up and smell the coffee. (Nescafe. 200g. Wilkinsons. £2.78.)
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I'd like to know how they see all the other poor punters - as amateur shoppers, perhaps? Says a lot about their attitude, really.Angie - GC Feb 26 £335.07.07/£400: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

I'm laughing at the "professional" bit but as the OH says, it's my job to run the house as efficiently as I can (I'm a stay-at-home-mum) so yes, why not treat it like any other job, to a professional standard?
I am very good at it, though I say it myself. Been doing it for over thirty years now, since I left home. I wonder how much money I've saved over that time by being thrifty?Val.0 -

I've heard it called "sleepshopping".The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I was a sleepshopper for years
I think I must be one of the "new breed" then, although I've always known my lack of care over shopping bills was stupid. Had to change my ways recently to stop spending more than I earn.
MSE has really helped me make a virtue out of necessity, though. :cool:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Thanks for that tip, I'm on it.
Grinning at the thought of being a pro shopper. My local Mr T have my card marked; I get my leg pulled by the check-out staff if all my shopping isn't on yellow labels.......
I learned most everything I know from my wily old Mum whose catchphrase when confronted with silly-burger price rises has always been; "Don't pay that, you'll only encourage them!"
FYI, Tesco have just jacked their basic mayonnaise up from 48p to £1.05 but Sainsbugs Basic mayo is still 48p. It contains eggs, eggs are going up, get your mayo in before it's too late.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

As this thread has dropped down the board and is more related to shopping than Old Style I've moved it over to the Food Shopping and Groceries board to see if you can get more replies.

This is a not good. Now that the major supermarkets have sussed out our habits they'll be planning a new strategy to get us spending our cash! They'll be flashing yellow stickers and fake prices, drawing us in and hooking us! I'm worried!
 There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
