I was more surprised that a seemingly helpful post from someone who said that they were in a position to resolve a problem should be reported.
Without the MSE forum mods checking up, the post from "Iceland foods" could have been from a company rep, a store employee or someone totally unconnected with Iceland.
As these forums are totally anonymous, anyone could pretend to work for a particular company so there has to be some checks carried out.0 -

The reality is that I wasn't being smug - or arrogant - just stating the facts. Maybe when you have picked up bits of snots and blood after an accident at work, then that may change your attitude. If stating the harsh facts about real situations that destroys lives and families on a regular basis is embarrassing - then that says more about yourself than me I'm afraid.
Here, I'll help you and then provide an explanation for you:
No need to!
I admitted I know there is more involved than just going up and down a few steps. I then went on to say it was the image in my head that the posters words produced that had me laughing.
Of course it was!0 -

I accept that - but as I mentioned in my earlier post, even though the poster technically breached forum rules, there was no indication of spamming or anything sinister and seemed a genuine effort to resolve a problem.
I just fail to comprehend why someone with bad intentions would offer a FREEPHONE number - what would they gain? If the phone number was dodgy - then the OP would hang up.
If all posts that breached forum rules were reported, then the guides would be overwhelmed.0 -
I simply posted to advise the rep. politely that they needed MSE permission to post as a rep. what was your reply
Azari chipped in with his rant which also appeared to be aimed at me.
I was attempting to be helpful to the rep. you two both assumed I was attacking them and reporting them.
Enough said discussion closed as far as I am concerned.
Common sense should prevail at times though don't you think?
By 'politely' mentioning that the reps post was against forum rules would likely result in the post and contact details being removed - which is somewhat counter productive I believe.0 -

You weren't stating purely facts. You have no idea what image was in my head so you didn't even know what I was laughing at yet you proceeded to say you did and then when I corrected you, you're now making out that you know what I think and feel better than I do? You don't. Plain and simple, you were wrong.
Yes I have had to deal with accidents at work. I'm a first aider. I've also had to deal with loved ones being in unbearable situations......that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humour. Ever seen a finger cut off? Someones broken bone protruding through their skin? Someones skin hanging off them? Someones car being run over by a lorry and that person crushed? Dont presume to know me or what I have experienced.
You don't like my sense of humour? Blame my father, I get it from him. In fact I recall me and him sitting in the hospital making jokes after he'd collapsed, broken his nose and not to mention burst open the stitches from his knee op resulting in him being covered in blood literally from mid thigh to his toes. Not to mention a dear friend of mine having being in HDU for weeks - practically unrecognisable because his face was all bashed up - in a coma, with the staff telling us he wasnt going to wake up and we should start saying our goodbyes, I was playing his favourite band on my Ipod for him and the lyrics went "get up get up get up" and guess what? He woke up...........and guess what? All of us started laughing. We sat with him day and night and yes, we joked with him, we made fun of him......I guess you think that makes me a terrible person? He (not to mention his friends and family) would disagree.......he did die but not before he got to spend some time with his loved ones laughing and joking.
You live your life the way you want to and leave mine the hell alone tyvm.
I'd rather die laughing than live as a miserable sod.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

You keep ranting on how I don't know you or your traits, but you have obviously made an assessment of me based on my posts.
What is blatantly obvious is that you seem to take offence easily! I couldn't be bothered to read the majority of your rant - never heard of paragraphs?Ever seen a finger cut off?
As I mentioned earlier, you don't know much about me despite your character assassination of me - if you did, you would not have asked the above question. You live your life the way you want to and leave mine the hell alone tyvm.
You obviously have issues if a volley of posts affects your life so much.0 -

I did use paragraphs. Perhaps you need retrained in something other than stairs.
See that! I didn't know the answer so I asked instead of assuming like you did. I take offence easily? Who is it who jumped on my post and proceeded to tell me that I should be ashamed of myself for having a sense of humour? Perhaps you need to take a leaf out of your own book. You obviously have issues if one poster laughing at a mental image (which only she knows) upsets you.
What irks me is random people trying to tell me that they know my life and my mind better than I know them myself. You don't and you never will, so it is pointless to try.
Haven't you heard the expression "you shouldn't take life so seriously, it will kill you"? Well I'm very sorry that I'm a joyful, mischievous person. Perhaps you would prefer it for me to be miserable and boring but alas! It is my life, not yours. You may not like my opinion but its of no concern of yours and nor is my outlook on life any less valid or any less "right" than your own.
So kindly put your step training to use and get down off that high horse. We are equals - regardless of our differing opinions. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Look - you obviously have some personal issues, but please read all of your responses to me.
Can't you see you are doing exactly the same as what you are accusing me of?
I am not prolonging this silly rant - I initially responded to a flippant remark about ladder safety to which I provided facts on injuries that are caused by using ladders.
Your response was to drift off on a tangent offering a psycho analysis of my personality and accusing me of making assumptions - again, when you have calmed down and the red mist has dissipated, you will observe that is what you are doing in your responses to my posts.
People get hurt using ladders - fact - something that should not be laughed at in my opinion - obviously you think otherwise. If you feel the need to take the p**s out of me because I take ladder safety/training serious, then that says more about your mindset than my respect for safety in the workplace.
Respond if you wish, but I have exhausted my pointless exchanges with you and in respect for the OP, I'm out of here!0 -

When I calm down? I am calm. Didn't I just say we're equals? Apparently you don't agree with my opinion on that either. I'll repeat, my opinion is not any less valid or right than your own. Your opinion is not any more valid or right than my own.
As for taking the !!!! out of you for taking health and safety seriously, erm again you're assuming - and none too brightly considering I've already told you why I responded.....because you're assuming you know my inner thoughts LOL Do you have any idea how silly it is to try and proclaim a thing like that?
Life can be depressing enough without taking a dour faced approach to it. If thats how you want to live your life....fine! I'm certainly not going to say that your views are idiotic/silly/whatever it is you said about mine. You know why? Because its none of my business and I respect other peoples views and opinions even if i don't agree with them.
Just a shame you can't show me the same courtesy. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
