A piece of music that brings me solace at times like this is Gone But Not Forgotten by Rick Wakeman
I play it when I'm sad, when I reminisce about Mum ..... and others
I heard it for the very first time played live by Rick just 2 days after my first, ever so loving, so funny, so loyal and forever present by my side Great Dane sadly had a final visit to my vet at just 8½ years old.
I was on the 3rd row in an intimate concert of his of about 300, just a few feet from his piano and boy did I blub(I'm very close to it now)
It's not a brilliant recording, I'm sure there are plenty of MP3s of it you could download, but it does show the fantastically talented Mr Wakeman at work.
The first 2 minutes and 15 seconds are not really relevant (just Rick story telling like her does between his playing) but the music means a lot and always raises deep emotions
So I offer and dedicate this to all of you and the loved ones you've lost ....
... and especially to MAD and family at this time of sorrow

Speaking from experience, I broke a bone in my foot (5th metatarsal) stepping off a kerb in Turkey 2 years ago and also had toe to knee cast, I can offer the following advice.
He'll need a doctor's letter stating that he is fit enough to fly otherwise the airline will not let him on the plane
The plaster cast should be cut and split all the way up the front from toe to knee in case there is an emergency and it needs to be removed in a hurry outside of a hospital environment (On the plane)
He should have an injection of Heparin (or similar anticoagulant) the day before flying (if possible) to remove the risk of DVT.
The hospital I attended in Turkey explained all this the day after I had the cast fitted, when I went back for a "check-up", and organised it for the penultimate day of my holiday.
It would be wise to inform the airline as well of the injury so they can make arrangements for things like a portered wheel chair to and from the skyway for the aircraft, and if like me, ensure he will be the first one on the aircraft and last one off, both for his comfort and that of the other passengers.
Hope this helps
Many thanks Quoia and CW for all your advice, also to CL and BS for your concern. I have emailed the info to my son and on the strength of that he has been back to the hospital today and got a letter and also an injection in readiness to fly tomorrow. I had already contacted the airline who are arranging for wheelchair help at each end.
Not sure if it's due to the recession but the hospital and pharmacies are all unable to supply crutches! Having said that, apparently my son came out of the apartment block where he is staying and was obviously having great trouble moving around, when a Spanish man came out of his house and gave my son a pair of crutches - how kind was that, he didn't even speak any English! Obviously my son will return them before he leaves tomorrow. Will be picking him up at the airport tomorrow evening so will no doubt get the full story then. I will just be so glad that he is home.0 -
looking like the best way to get the 10p petrol mocs at mr T could be the cereal deal. spend £6 on cereal to get voucher but loads of the cereals can be used for jtd against asda, or curiously cin £2 in mr T £1.50b in sains and 50p off moc so 3 boxes is £3 to spend after mocs and jtd to et your 10p
