Have been out all day and returned early evening only to find several missed calls from my son. He is on holiday in Spain on a parachuting course. Apparently he did his first jump today and has broken his ankle/foot - he is not sure exactly what as the doctors at the hospital didn't speak any English but he has been plastered from his toes up to his knee!:(

Anyway he has asked me to try and get him home so I have spent all evening trying to organise a flight, eventually got one for Thursday evening as he is not allowed to fly for 48 hours. Although he is 30, I feel so helpless at this end, he has recently ended a relationship and has gone to Spain on his own, is staying in an apartment with no way of getting out even for any food. The hospital haven't even given him any crutches, apparently they didn't have any!

I probably sound rather "dramatic" over just a broken bone but I just don't like to think of him there all on his own without any help.

A piece of music that brings me solace at times like this is Gone But Not Forgotten by Rick Wakeman

I play it when I'm sad, when I reminisce about Mum ..... and others :(

I heard it for the very first time played live by Rick just 2 days after my first, ever so loving, so funny, so loyal and forever present by my side Great Dane sadly had a final visit to my vet at just 8½ years old.

I was on the 3rd row in an intimate concert of his of about 300, just a few feet from his piano and boy did I blub  (I'm very close to it now)

It's not a brilliant recording, I'm sure there are plenty of MP3s of it you could download, but it does show the fantastically talented Mr Wakeman at work.

The first 2 minutes and 15 seconds are not really relevant (just Rick story telling like her does between his playing) but the music means a lot and always raises deep emotions

So I offer and dedicate this to all of you and the loved ones you've lost ....

... and especially to MAD and family at this time of sorrow

That's a beautiful piece of music and I would like to reiterate everyone's messages and also offer my condolences to Mad and his family.
