Sorry to hear about your DS MT, hope he finds something else soon - sounds like he hasn't exactly been fairly treated by the company that took him on :(

I do read your posts Quoia and think I've realised you are brilliant and better than most at getting your weekly shop for nothing/or next to nothing via wombling, but wombling is just not for me, I see you post totals along with Blue and the others and think it is amazing, well done and more power to your elbow.....but it must be a little time consuming too....I used to not mind spending time in supermarkets ( I was a Mystery Shopper) but now like to do really quick shops...in and out, with no hassle at the tills....then I can use some of my spare time to enter comps and enjoy the rewards they give me, I really believe it's swings and roundabouts....I've always been very lucky.
Wins totalling arounnd £75,000 and so far this year over £4,000, a £900 holiday and a £500 telly last year with quite a lot of other stuff as well.( cereal and toiletry wins have been very good).....my points have given me a £1450 holiday, £800 off another, 2 x Ferry trip to Ireland worth £500....£500 worth of spectacles, also lots of perfume on double up, and a few small electrical appliances, had quite a lot of stuff from Denby and will be getting £600 of my next holiday later this year....I'm more than happy.

    Hi Bully,

my query was to answer your question that IS and Doc gave some feedback to.

To my mind wombling doesn't even enter the equation - although I spend relatively little time doing it.

10 to 15 minutes three or four times a week usually when I'm already at A doing the shopping. I reckon it pays about £40 an hour tax free on average. I'm a bit limited on what exercise I can do because of an accident about 35 years ago and more recently due to back problems ultimately caused by these old injuries, but walking is beneficial in all respects to my health - so a bit of perambulating with my Uncle is good from both aspects.

No the reason I asked was two-fold.
Firstly the savings made by shopping at A rather than T - they really are the cheapest by far never mind the 10% APG.
OK, if there isn't one close by then travel time & costs factor in but it does have to be really significant before ruling them out.
The average cost of an annual shop for us at T would be 20% higher than it would be at A - that's a minimum of £1000 - that's without the 10% APG. By buying at the right time, and APG covering S, M & W, that's worth another £500 at the very least. Wombling is a pure bonus

Secondly the clubcard & holiday discount side.
I've looked into this and have tried it on more than one occasion and found it to be mostly pointless (and worthless) from a saving point of view, at least for any holiday that we wanted. The restriction of how and where they had to be redeemed, prices quoted (usually full brochure price) just negated any perceived advantage.
For instance, I'm going to Sri Lanka in September for 3 weeks and we went down the clubcard route (we do actually have quite a few vouchers) to see what was on offer for the holiday we wanted - best was £4550 which was basically brochure price

We tried elsewhere, changed tour company but flying on the same date from the same airport on the same plane going to the same hotel - £3700
Booking it online gave an immediate 10% saving making it £3330.
They had a promo code valid for that month (like most months) giving an extra £250 per couple off so that was £3080 and then they had a one day only "leap year" offer if you booked it on 29th Feb of an additional £29 per person discount - so final total was £3022

Except of course I went through QUIDCO and they gave me £276 cashback as well. Which was £76 more than the £200 deposit I had paid and was in my bank account almost 3 months before I paid the outstanding balance. Final holiday cost £2746
That's a lot of clubcard points required at ZERO cost to save £1804 off the same holiday to make it the same price.
Oh I nearly forgot - 10kilos extra luggage included in the cheaper price :D

So whilst they can be redeemed against a holiday, I consider them to be very poor value and definitely not free.

I know, mse is so addictive as is wombling and couponning and all time consuming too, (as well as money saving):)

I used to just go to tesco without thinking about another supermarket. Every now and then I went to asda but that was it.

Now I have to plan a shop with a list, I never used to have a list, and a bag of coupons/apg's. My son said my handbag is getting heavier and heavier when I ask him to pass me my bag.:):)

    CWxx

I feel like this too sometimes. I love the savings but all the couponing and wombling takes up a a lot of time. I can't imagine going to Asda and not using APGs;)
