Maybe we'll get an update from Graham as he was looking for alternatives to the Halifax SVR and didn't think there were any.
Someone must be getting these rates. I would have thought someone remortgaging with a sound history of repayments is a better bet than an FTB?0 -

yep, its laughably pathetic, but completely as expected
the point about the lack of these mortgages has been answered and nobody can 'bear' to admit that they were wrong.....'Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.'

of course they are, but for some people round here the glass is perpetually half-empty!'Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.'

So you know for certain that HSBC have not and will not grant any of these mortgages?0

Family member of mine is a Premier Account holder with HSBC. he has a mrtgage with them already and recently tried to take out a new mortgage for a new house with them and it was 3 weeks before they even wanted to consider the application.
Their process is very slow as far as I'm aware and I think you have to use their own very small pool of solicitors.
I suspect that if one is prepared to wait for ages and pass their very strict lending criteria then a mortgage is possible with HSBC. Their rates are the best and therefore they can pick and choose who they want and take as long as they want to arrange the mortgage.0 -

It's not an accusation. I'm saying hello chucky.
Never mind is exactly what chucky would have said when caught out to end a post.
I'm not accusing you. I'm stating you are chucky. Shame you felt you had discredited yourself so much under your old name you had to reinvent yourself...
Should have tried harder my son

I wasn't.
You were looking on my behalf. I've not stated anywhere I wish to switch to an alternative.
Making things up?
At least you got chuckles back to join in. 0
