The fact the op posted on here that his wife parked where she shouldn't!

Pathetic answer. I ask again, what gives you the right to judge them?

P.S to Coupon Mad, it is a great idead for Parent and toddler bays when you have child seats that need removing from cars, Get real!!
and stay out of the space if you dont have kids,

:D Well done on your victory, genuinely pleased it was struck out as I do hate PPCs, especially UKCPS as one of the worst on here.

    But...

It's well known on here (and I already told you in a previous post) that I have four kids, all of whom have needed to be carried in car seats as toddlers/babies. Never used a P&C bay when they were tiny as it is actually possible to remove a car seat carefully when parked normally! Or if I had my husband as passenger we would stop short of the bay and the passenger would carry the baby and car seat and go and find a trolley whilst I finished parking in a normal bay. I did sometimes use P&C bays since then for safety as mine are close in age and it was dangerous otherwise, to park further away across a car park with a little tribe of Coupons when on my own.

But I didn't believe I had some sort of right to a special wide bay like disabled people are allowed by law and I never, ever took a disabled bay when not carrying a disabled passenger. Most people never would, it's a line most people do not cross.

I do have experience of more than one family member with disabilities (only one of whomn had a blue badge) and two previous job working with the disabled. There is a world of difference between the needs of disabled people, as protected by law (so please stay out of their spaces!) and the 'wants' of people with babies who would quite like a bit more space in a bay but are not protected by law because it is actually possible to park normally and walk with baby/toddler and trolley.

There is NO NEED for the gimmick of P&C bays, that's all it is, a gimmick to bring big daft idiots and friends in as willing customers who believe that a store actually cares about them. If P&C bays were withdrawn then there would be more scope for a store to either provide some more disabled bays (if needed) or drop off/pick up bays, or just more normal bays for all customers. But stores won't withdraw them now because the vocal 'Mumsnet & NCT crowd' would throw their toys out of the pram!

If the parent spaces are full then why not park in one of the other various side by side spaces which are empty? Oh yes i know that means WALKING, a past-time people these days are so scared of.

If the vehicle parked in the disabled space without VALID reason you in my eyes deserve everything any PPC can throw at you. I know people will now jump on and say "yeh you will say that your a ppc" but this is my biggest bug bare. Its pure laziness and nothing else.

    You are not wrong. :T

...but of course it doesn't give a third party firm an excuse to extort money.

I still think we should be able to use P&C bays, when my child drives, if I'm with her.
As everyone says, it's just a bit of paint on the ground after all.
(And tell the car park attendent he's scum and to do one if he dares to comment.)

In this rare instance we agree then, about pointless gimmicky P&C bays. :)

I viewed them more a courtesy to other motorists.
The wide bays meant I didn't have to force my door into the car next to me to get the seats out, and there were times when the seat used to get dragged down the side of the car next to me if the spaces were tight.
Not a problem to me, but upsetting if your car was the nice and shiny one next to me.
So I would use wide bay, but like you, not that fussy if I couldn't.

Oh Mikey, you're such a card.

Now run along dear and play with the other children, the grown ups want to talk.

Really? I just parked slightly to one side so there was a wider space on the side where the car seats were. Never scratched a car in my life!

Seems so simple, but then some people are just selfish idiots who's lives are so empty and pointless they can only gain attention by causing damage. They have nothing constructive to offer society at all. They are just a drain on the rest of us. I suppose it's a sign of a mature society that we tolerate them, pity them even, rather than taking them off into the woods and putting them out of their misery.

mmm. All right for a female driver aren't you! :)

Isn't it funny that whenever we get a newbie who double parks or makes a mess of the situation, it always goes on to say "my husband this", or "my boyfriend that", or "as I am pregnant", and you get the full picture! It is the other species again!!!!!!!
