I forgot how ridiculous some of these jobs are. Paying not much more than NMW, job is to do some filing, typing, etc. And must be "educated to degree level"...

    I mean, seriously?!

my favourite words are rate - above national minimum wage, and then when you ask they say £6 an hour....

mmmmmm yeah it might be above NMW but only by 3p an hour....

i'm biting my fingers as i have been offered a job with the council, however last summer i got offered a position, and it got pulled the Friday before i started.... and the new job wanted me to start Monday - but i haven't heard anything, and there's no one in the office... hey ho.

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

I've gone from thinking I had a temp job for the next 2 months [ still wishful that the call will still come tomorrow] to back to square one. This has happened twice with a LA that I temped with previously. They call my agency asking is I'm available for work, I say yes [ while doing an imaginary jumping for joy dance, thinking ahead what little treats I going to be able to buy for myself] then nothing.

Got two long LA job application forms to complete before Saturday.

I had my whole rant ready about agencies and firms that label up sales jobs as customer service to get more ad views when they're different jobs...and was responding in such a rush to this short-run app, where they're apparently interviewing later this morning, that I left a typo in my covering letter  so I'm just as hacked off at myself now as the company and agency :o

Learned the lesson about rushing overnight due to deadlines, I'll give everything two final re-reads instead of one. I did phrase it in an on-spec way anyway, asking them to file me for future roles if I've missed the deadline, so I'll have to just put it down to experience. It is the first error in a long time though, largely thanks to Firefox which can spell check whatever you're writing in web forms. Just annoying to let one slip through when it's one of the most common reasons the app will get spiked.

something that actually helps people get back into work would be a good start.

Except no one has a clue what that 'something' is. I'll be on the WP soon and will probably be as angry about it just as you guys (although New Deal did help me). For now, I'll give it a chance to aid me in some way...

He doesn't mean 4 interviews. He meant the telephone interview is the 4th stage of the selection process.

    Maybe it's something like...

    1. CV screening.
    2. Written test.
    3. Numeracy and verbal reasoning tests.
    4. Telephone interview.
    5. Assessment centre.

You'd only get 4 interviews if it's a 6 digit salary job. 1 telephone interview, 1 in person interview, 1 group panel interview, and final 1on1 interview.

You get the following for some jobs under 18K

    1) Telephone Interview
    2) Initial interview. Talk about your CV. Few questions
    3) Competency based assessment
    4) Psychometric assessment
    5) Team assessment
    6) 2nd stage interview
    7) Thorough background check. CV Check. Reference check. Residency Check. Referee check.

Usually for jobs which require contact with sensitive government data. Depending on the data in contact, could be an even deeper interview/check.

My husband's friend who is an accountant had 7 interviews. Then they decided the industry background he came from, which they'd known from day 1, wasn't suitable for them. What a complete waste of his time.

    4th stage interview (!) today.
I asked my partner which God to pray to, and he said all of them.
Then everything got in my way, the washing up, the cat, the distraction, and I chose Shiva http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvC8AR7-FZE

I will try to pray to as many as I can, but it's a start.
I asked my partner, which God do I pray to?
    He said, All of them.

It was a phone interview, I would like to say I took it in my bath, I would like to say I did it in my jim jams, nah mate, put the suit on, innit.

So. My voice was comfy, warm, appealing, I swerved every single question that would make me display a personality, while having one.
