One Day I Will .... get debts below £8500 (Debt Diary)

  • So, with all my payments for the month gone out, and my credit card statement in today, this is the day I work out how much I have reduced my debts by.

Thanks to my partial PPI refund my current debts stand at:

    Credit Card - £3163.17 (M&S LoB 3.9%)
Loan - £5235.00 (includes interest at 9.9% for duration of loan, 25 payments @ £209.40 per month remaining)

    Total debt: £8398.17

My debt has reduced by £1095.11 this month.

Making a total of 23% paid off since 22 Feb 2007.

    Chuffed to bits! :D

I know things will slow down now as I have no more bank charges or PPI to claim back. But these two months have been a fantastic kick start to the process, and I enjoyed showing Mr OneDay my figures this month. He was very proud of me which is always nice. :)

I should have a bumper payday on Monday - my extra hours for March weren't paid, so I have that money in addition to my normal pay and my extra hours for April coming to me. Just hope I don't go crazy with it!

Unfortunately no extra hours to work from now on, but it will be good for my sanity and I am enjoying making money by helping folk out with jobs they need doing and selling stuff that no longer seems necessary/important to me.

    Hello OneDay,

I was wondering about you earlier.... fantastic start, you should be very pleased with yourself. Glad Mr OneDay is still being supportive etc, he sounds like a top guy.

Keep on with the diary.... I enjoy reading it xxx

    Hi Tigz & Elantan - thanks :)

I've just been double checking statements and plugging numbers into my spreadsheet - and have just been able to transfer another £258.92 to my credit card :) It is great to look at your bank balance at the end of month and see that it is positive AND be able to pay it off a debt!!!

So that's a head start for next months payments!

Tigz - how's the job going?

Have just read through this whole thread - loved it! Thank you, onedayiwill, you're a bit inspiring, doncha know?? Am glad you have such a supportive hubby - I don't know where i'd be now if it wasn't for mine. He stopped a downward spiral of debt and we're now well down an (admittedly long) road to recovery and debt-free-ness. It makes me so sad when i hear about oh's that are unsupportive, and makes me very grateful for men like ours!

Anyway, have a good weekend and I look forward to hearing more about your dfw efforts :T

well done on your progress. Must be handy being able to sell things at work. I find that ebay is so hit or miss. You add 456 to my name on here to get my ebay one. Just don't have things that people want to buy I guess (sigh).

And well done on getting below 8.5k. That must have been such a good feeling.

    Hi Tigz & Elantan - thanks :)

Tigz - how's the job going?

Really well thanks, I work with lovely people and it's laid back so it's nice to go to work. Also it's great just having me to think about. Thanks for asking.

Fab news about the extra payment... :T

So, the extra payment I made has cleared on the credit card and my balance there is now £2904.25 - less than £3000! Woo-hoo! Another landmark.

I think that deserves a creme egg. From the stash Mr OneDay bought for me at ASDA just after easter when they were 8 for £1. Yum yum.

I don't have any other updates. Life in my DFW world goes on as normal - earning extra cash in whatever way I can, and not spending it. The equation is simple :).

    Hi folks,

Not really a DFW update - things in that area are going well. Did my cash withdrawal for the month at the weekend - £60 to include a Tai Chi workshop this weekend that'll cost £25. I need it at the moment as I'm going through a really difficult time with my depression - even though I have many good things going on at the moment, and many good things to look foward to, I am really struggling to see things as they are and positive thoughts and even fake smiles - let alone the genuine article - are difficult to find.

I feel like I'm starting to spiral out of control again.

So the purpose of this update is to ask my friends here for help. If you have any jokes, silly pictures or videos or other things that make you smile, please post them (or a link) here. If I can get a few real smiles on my face, then it will be a start to lifting my mood a little ...

    Thanks. OneDay.
