BEWARE - fake leather jacket scam. Reportage

The pile which now inhabits a corner in my front room includes:
1x XXL leather like jacket, read online the the lighter trick is done on the tag which is the only real leather part of the coat.
2x Suede jackets 1 XL, 1 Med. guessing not real suede.
2x suits, not sure of the sizes.
all items cut badly so don't feel comfortable.
i have no use for these and can't see myself ever wearing or offloading any of it so may end up in the charity shop.
i am a mug :T0 -
Post some pictures so we can take a look. If the suede and leather jackets don't smell like suede/leather, that is a clear indication they are not real."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

took a few pics to give you a general idea.. there is another black suit but camera battery died. All items were in authentic looking suit bags or thick plastic. scan of business card isn't great but card looks good in real life.
if i do attempt to sell this stuff on ebay, how would i describe the goods? i don't want to get done by trading standards for selling fake goods.0 -
There is a scam going on at the moment which unfortunately my husband got stung by yesterday.
He is not stupid by any means and is a company director but so good is this con artist that he got caught.
Coming out of car park in Coventry, an italian man approached him with a story about how he was on his way back to Italy after attending a fashion conference at the NEC ( this conference did happen and La moda did exhibit there ) .
He said he was a rep for la moda and he just had these 4 jackets left over at the end of the show. He was on his way to the airport and did not want to pay excess luggage to take them home but would my husband consider having them for the price of his hire car ( £260 ).
the jackets looked good ( or the 2 he looked closely at ) and the guy was very plausible with a seemingly soft sell. He also showed him his passport and pictures of wife and family.
He parted with the money and then rang me. As soon as i put reportage jackets into google it came up with scambusters website with similar stories from around the world. The jackets are PVC not leather and certainly not Armani. Please beware. If this post stops one of you falling for same then i have not wasted my time.
Hi, Yesterday I encountered exactly the same scam. It was in a Morrisons Car park in Nottingham, Italian Guy, Hire Car, four leather / Suede jackets (on his way to Heathrow). Wanted £250 but eventually dropped to £100. He gave me his business card and we talked for about 10 mins. I eventually told him I wouldn't be taking his offer as, if something looks too good to be true it usually is, he said he didn't understand and started to get a bit annoyed and then asked for his business card back. Gave him his card back, wished him a safe journey and walked away.
I must admit I thought I had missed out on a bargain
But after Googling 'leather coat scam' came across this thread.....Good Old MoneySavingExpert :T0 -
they seem to be targetting morrisons car parks
i was in a white van, reckon they have a preferred mark or just try it on at random?
i actually said to the guy that this was too good to be true and asked him directly whether he was having me on and obviously he strongly denied it.
wonder if it was the same guy.. wish i'd taken a sneaky photo on my mobile now.
where the goods the same as pics i posted?0 -

I have to say that I posted this originally in the hope that it would help someone and stop it happening to anyone else - not for any holier than thou smug replies from people basically calling my husband greedy and stupid. That is not the idea of this forum I thought. For those people that it has helped - GREAT !!Everything you need is out there - you just need to ask..................:A0 -
Yes I fell for it. Italian, Show Airport etc etc
Said I could have it all his stuff for what I had in my pocket becuase I was good enough to give him directions to the auroport
So I got a suit and 3 leather jackets for 150 quid.
My wife has still to see the items but will laugh eventually0 -
