I phoned them yesterday, and they told me the same thing (my next disc will be sent on the 12th). My "rented" queue has been 2 items long for 10 days now, although I'm on the 3 discs plan. I've been sending DVDs back, and sometimes they've replaced them the same day, but lately they'll never send discs so I could have 3 discs on my posession.

Apparently, they find it quite "normal" and acceptable to resort to deliberately delay the deliveries to "make sure every customer gets titles". The person on the phone "explained" to me that they had to do this due to excessive demand. I told her that that to me sounded like "we can't do business properly" and "we can't cope with the demand", and that they were offering not an "all you can watch" service but an "all we want to send" service. She wasn't impressed by this, but kept hammering their empty procedure explanations to me as to (I think) divert from the fact that the service is rubbish and that I'm not getting what I'm paying for.

I told her that I'd cancel if I were not using the 3 for 1 months' service promotion, and she promptly offered me to cancel my account (!). I told her that I'll cancel as soon as my 3rd month expires and that they'd be getting no more money from me.

After reading these posts I think I'll call them today to see if I can get some days in compensation for the poor service I'm getting. I was used to watch 6 discs a week, but this comes now to less than 3 a week. This is really unbeleivable.

I remember ditching ScreenSelect because they sometimes took an extra day to deliver my next disc. That, in comparison, is much better than LoveFilm. At least you know what you're paying for.

    Oh dear!

I thought Lovefilm was the best out of the three I tried - Screenselect and Globel e-rental being the other two. I'm in my sixth week of free trials altogether and so so far so good. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

However I received an email from them stating that if I return more than one disc in one envelope I will be entered into some kind of draw. Has anyone else got this? I can just about fit one disc into those envelopes without them splitting at the performations. How am I meant to fit in two, let alone three? Is there some other kind of freepost envelope?

Oh and did anyone actually receive a free dvd player? I'm always suspicious of these kind of promotions.
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

I did not receive a dvd player. I signed up at 11.16 am (time of confirmation email) with the email received at 11.12am on the day this thread started.

Anyone sign up earlier than me?
  • Just to add my voice, got an unacceptable reply to my email asking where my disks were. Emailed back saying it was appalling, and got a reply saying I was to be given 4 weeks credit. Checked my account, only 4 days had been added. They've now confirmed it should've only been 4 days, even though they said 4 weeks. Replied telling them they'll see no more £ from me...

I'll happily send details to watchdog also - their second email admitted warehouse problems were the cause.

They also got me back with this offer - no sign of my dvd player!!

I have seen no problems with LoveFilm this time around - I just keep my list updated and make sure it is not just full of the latest releases. I seem to average about 5 a week.

Still a lot better than the other companies I used with the exception of DVD365 who were also good.

I dont have the times of my sign up to hand but I did sign up within 10 minutes of receiving the email. I have not received a DVD player. After signing up, I have since received emails with the same offer so assumed I must be within the first 50 as they are still advertising it......

Email response from LoveFilm suggest I did not win the DVD and the repeat emails we additional offers alonfg the same line, with the same prize and the same deadline. I told them they were a scam and they disagreed, I told them no mre ££ would come from me and the proceeded to cancel my account until I told them I had paid for my account as part of the buy one get 2 monthsfree and if they cancelled they would be in violation of the contract we both agreed. They have now backed of and told me my account will be automatically cancelled after my billing period.

Looks like I hit a nerve, the truth hurts. They are scamming everyone telling them of a DVD player they could win when in fact they either do not exist or have already gone.

i managed to fit two in the envelope, but it took them another 3 days to actually receive it compared to the single dvd i posted at the same time, whether it was down to royal mail or lovefilm? I wouldn't bother, i certainly won't again.
