With 4 boys and 2 massive litter trays i scoop the "deposits" daily but only do a complete change every 2 weeks.
With one cat you were changing the litter so often?
scratchng head...
She has two trays, a hooded one which is often kept outside in the warmer months (she has a small shed with a microchip cat flap so other cats can't use it) she then has one other which generally remains in her poo cupboard as we call it. There is absolutely no way I would leave two week old litter in the house, even after removing deposits it still smells and it will still have some urine and faeces, really a bit like how I wouldn't wait two weeks to clean my own loo.0 -
That is interesting. I have 4 cats and a very sensitive nose and I do not smell anything from the GG when "deposits" are removed...Nothing is left inside either but I use a scoop with very fine holes in it so it picks up really well - perhaps your scoop had bigger holes in it and things were getting through? No idea but glad you found something that suits you better.0

Right, took Zara to the vets today. She had a general check up - with her it is heart, generally hips/spine/legs, anal glands, teeth, ears. All fine.
Vet took blood for testing as she is on Onsior and has to have blood tests every year so sneaked it in now before the reneval is due - will have the blood results on Monday - day before the "reneval date" and depends on what comes up - will decide about keeping/not keeping insurance.
So lets hope all is fine....
Ah, madam put on weight. She was 41 last time and now is 43.6 kg
And there was me thinking she is on a diet.. sighhhhh
Does anyone have a link to that dog food calories calculator that was posted here ages ago?
Clearly I am getting something wrong...
Cat dry food is up high she cant get it, she sometimes sneaks to the kitchen after cat's dinner and washes up their bowls from wet food leftovers...
And she sometimes shares some cheddar with me... and TUC biscuits.... and....
(head down in shame shouting mea culpa......)0 -
Sure Maisie's put on weight too
It's only been about a month since she was weighed (check it whenever we're at the vets) but she's looking a bit chunkier
*sigh* her kibble & wet food is weighed every meal .... I guess treats may have crept up a little - but seriously only a tiny bit.
She's due her booster soon so will check it again then
Great news Zara's all OK & fingers crossed for her bloodsGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Just spoke to the vets, Zara's blood results are absolutely fine which is great news.
Now, got to decide TODAY what to do about the insurance....
Still scratching head0 -
OK, just called Argos, they said no change could be made BUT we went over some details.
Zara was registered as a pedigree GS which is not correct. She is not pedigree, I asked for this to be corrected to Belgian Shepherd cross and the price came down from £172 per month to £108.23 per month.
Will keep it now.
Uffffff0 -
I choose NOT to think how much money went wasted over the years only because of the breed.
I have never seen Zara's parents, only seen a photo of what was supposigly her mum (narrow face like Zara has) and several people I walked with over the years asked me if Zara is a BS.
The difference n price is just amazing thought, till now I was paying 130 per month, was going to go up to 172 per month but its down to 108 per month.
Shock - in a good way0 -
That's a great result! I would be tempted to be cheeky and ask them to calculate how much you've overpaid in the past few years because they have recorded the wrong details. You could ask for it to be taken into account when calculating future premiums, or better yet, a nice cheque!

Have you never noticed over the years on your insurance documents that your dog is listed as a German Shepherd? Belgian Shepherds and German Shepherds are two completely different breeds, what does your vet say she is?
Belgian Shepherds do not have the hip and spine problems your dog has had and an adult female BS weighs around 23-25kg, I believe your dog weighs 39-40kg? These things makes it highly unlikely that your dog is a BS cross, I would call her a GS cross if you are unsure as she sure looks more like GS than BS.
Also have you told your vet that your dog has morphed from a GS into a BS cross because the insurance company are not going to pay out on any new claims if they have her down as a GS?0 -
Once you get of your high horse - consider possiblity of Belgian Shepherd mixed with German Shepherd.0
