Post Office says item delivered but it wasn't

I bought a mobile phone on eBay for £90. The Post Office says it was delivered. It was not. I have simply not received it. I opened a dispute on eBay and eBay ruled in favour of the seller because the Post Office says it was delivered. So what do I do now? Is it up to me to take this up with the Post Office? It doesn't sound as if I'm going to get very far if they're insisting the item was delivered. Or do I just write off £90 and view this as a risk of buying things online?

No. It says "Sorry, an electronic proof of delivery is not available for this item."

As per hermum. Check the online signature and try to ascertain if it was left with a neighbour etc.

File a complaint with the delivery office (it's not the Post Office) and ask them to investigate.

Ask the seller to confirm the address it was sent to and then appeal the dispute asking for the proof of posting to ascertain which address it was 'posted' to.

That sounds like Royal Mail Tracked. It will show as delivery and not have or need a signature.

Have a look at the tracking in https://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails to see if it helps as it will give the details of the track.

I've checked with my neighbours, they haven't received it. The Post Office say you have to wait at least 15 days before claiming so I'll wait until that's up, maybe it will show up before.

It's NOT the Post Office. You need to speak with your delivery office and complain. The quicker you do this the more likely they can speak with the postman who 'may' recall where he left/delivered the parcel.

What does the tracking say on the link I posted (not the normal website link).

    "01/03/1212:42DELIVERED01/03/12NW1 DELIVERY OFFICE (PDO)"

I went out for lunch at more or less the same time as this.

Then get onto the delivery office - NW1 (I take it that is London?).

You probably won't win a claim from RM as the item is showing as delivered, so you must complain to the DO now and see what they can find out. Could it have been left in your bin/garage/shed/behind a bush etc

Not that easy to find a phone number for them...
