Yup, definitely a foundation - here's a review so you can see how pale it is and how it looks on skin. http://www.phyrra.net/2011/07/holika-holika-essential-petit-bb-cream-spf-30-pa-review.html
Hi, I want to buy this one but am totally confused regarding the types. green, can you help please? I've got combination skin, quite oily forehead and chin, normal on cheeks but also prone to dry patches here and there... Do I go for Clearing or Watery? I've no idea0 -

Holika Holika Peach Girl has two shades, maybe the lighter one would suit you?

BTW, has anyone tried this particular one before? I quite like the look of it.0 -
Here is another one with three different shades:

I've just bought Skin79 pink super plus bb cream from ebay.
This youtube review clinched it for me.

This review is also really good as it covers a wider range of bb creams.

I thought I would just chime in as I live in Korea at the moment and so Im quite familiar with all the brands you are mentioning.
In Asia, especially Korea, the lighter your skin tone, the more beautiful you are considered to be. So a lot of the creams that come from here have whitening agents in them, to lighten your skin. As the packaging has very limited, and often very poor English on it, it doesn't always state it, but most BB creams are also for lightening your skin tone. Im not sure if the whitening agents actually work but it might be something to consider.0 -
sorry, not sure how i managed to duplicate the post0

I have purchased the missha perfect cover in the darkest shade(even though i'm quite fair), i did this because after reading alot of reviews, plus studying the before and after photos, i realised that the whitening/brightening agents would make me look extremely pale. I'm really hoping it's not too dark.0

Thanks v much for all your replies, I've had a long day at work and this is the first chance to get on here. Bunberry you are a wiz on bb creams
It would seem that western creams are a poor substitute so I think I will try eastern. I suppose it's just a case of guessing the colour to some extent?
I'm 50 and until recently have been able to wear tinted moisturiser during the day with touches of concealer in places but it's not enough I need a foundation now and I like a light one. I currently use clinique superbalanced, it's as much as I can tolerate.
So I thought BB looked like a good idea. I'm still prone to a t-zone shine so might need a matt one with a bit of bronzer. I don't think I'm even going to try the new one's over here.
Thanks for all your advice:A
Hehe thanks but I'm no wiz, I just used to have an almost unhealthy obsession with Korean brand cosmetics! They're a lot better priced than what you can get here, usually excellent quality and the fact that Gmarket sellers threw in so many freebies (including full size products sometimes) meant I had a lot of different things to play with. Most Western brands especially the "premiums" are imo demanding unreasonable prices for products just because they can, and people will pay for the name. I used to be a sucker for these and was happy to buy all these self proclaimed "miracle products" with exquisite packaging which is likely where most of your money goes, but the purpose of packaging is to keep the product fresh. Does anyone really care if it looks good if it's only going to be binned when empty? Well unless you plan to use it as a hair accessory then maybeSorry I digress... mini rant over
With BB creams it unfortunately is a matter of guessing the shade that might work for you, though as a general rule of thumb, if you usually use the lightest 1-2 shades in most brands, then go for the lighter BB cream. If it is a little too light, it can easily be fixed with a quick dusting of bronzer/powder + blusher. If the BB cream turns out to be too dark, there's the option of mixing in some moisturizer to lighten it. Of course you want as a close match as possible to minimize what you also need to do in order to wear it.
The higher SPF BBs contain higher concentrations of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which are the ingredients that give a slightly white cast after application (usually the case with physical sun creams).
On a side point if any of you ladies like Benefit, check out Banila Co. Some of their products have a very Benefit-esque feel and are cheaper with just as good, if not better, quality.

Well ive managed to get my hands on the Boots No7 BB cream in fair. Havent had chance to play with it yet though.
I dont fancy the idea of the Korean products whitening and brightening agents to be honest. I'm pale enough at the moment. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
