Bershka unacceptable behavoir

Last Saturday, me and my girlfried was going to Westfield in White City for shopping. We went to Bershka and my girlfriend decided to try some of the clothes. For anyone been there before, you will know women sections is downstairs and mens wear is upstairs.

As usual, she took the clothes to the changing room in the downstairs and start changing. I was waiting outside of the changing room. When my girlfriend comes out, she tell me while she is changing, there is a man staff opened the curtain. Luckily she has her clothes on. Although the staff has already apologise, but my girlfriend still have a very hard feeling about it. She feels insulted. We then complain to the manager and the manger also apologise about it.

My girlfriend has lost her mood for the rest of the day and she dont feels like trying any clothes in a shop anymore.

In this case, anyone can advise me what can I do about it? To me, its kind of wierd to have a male staff working in a women section changing room.

I tried to make a complain but it is impossible to find any contact on their website.

Please kindly advise

He accidentally opened the curtain and apologised, the manager apologised, get over it and get on with your life.

If you go into many shops there are women working in men's sections (the big stores spring to mind) so I see nothing wrong with the opposite. Yes, you do get 'accidents' such as happened to your GF but as long as they are not a regular occurrence and handled sensibly rather than blown out of all proportion as you and your GF seem to be trying to do then there is not a problem

It is lucky that my girlfriend was with her clothes on, what if she is naked?

You may think its alright and even if this happen to me, I will be alright as well. However this is really a personal feeling. Men may not think this is a big issue, but not the same as woman. She feel insulted and I can for sure next time she is in the changing room, she will not feel comfortable.

maybe they were short staffed and only had a male member of staff available , im guessing by the way you write you are not British , maybe its a bigger deal to you because of your culture but it really isn't that big a deal . if your partner doesn't feel comfortable going there then simply don't go again.

Slap the security guy on both cheeks with your gloves and challenge him to a duel. This is the only way a gentleman would deal with this slight on his companions honour.

Otherwise just take your custom elsewhere.

And what if she was in there with a friend, or smoking in there, or having a sandwich or a drink?
A lot of "what ifs", but none of them happened.
The staff member made a mistake, realised they made a mistake and apologised for it.

NO one has said it's alright. What everyone has said that it was a simple misunderstanding by the staff member.

It's no different to having male midwives, nurses, etc.

I'm a woman and I wouldn't find this a big issue. It was an accident. People who feel 'insulted' when it's clear that no insult was intended need to examine their sense of perspective. For heaven's sake, she was fully clothed! Can't you laugh about it? I would.

It's one of those things that happen by accident. A tad embarrassing but no harm done. At least it was a changing room where I presume she would have undies on, not a completely in the nack situation.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Again, I'm a woman and don't see a big deal over it. Perhaps slightly worse if she was naked but she wasn't. And that is the important part.

I *could* have been ran over by a car and killed.....but I wasn't.
I *could* have been stabbed down that dark alley.....but I wasn't.
There *could* have been a child (oh wont someone think of the children)............but there wasn't.

By all means if you want to complain, write a letter suggesting they always check before opening doors/curtains/whatever to changing rooms. But if you're seeking some sort of monetary value.....any amount they give (if anything) would be pure goodwill and no entitlement.

You mean just peek around the side of the curtain? :rotfl:

    Sorry, couldn't resist that.
