Brilliant thread - we are all trying to save money but we have some "luxuries" that we won't scrimp on!!
Only buy Andrex loo roll and stock pile when on offer;
Only use brand washing liquid and fabric conditioner as above;
Use steak mince from M & S, but cut down the amount used and pad out with tomatoes, good herbs etc;
Hubby rents a greenhouse so save on the veg.
And on it goes - you can live well buy cutting down on the things that make no difference e.g. 45p 500g spaghetti is as good as £1 one, once it has the sauce on!!!0 -
In these days where extra pennies mean more now than ever and the OSers make cut backs across the board, what have you found to be a false economy?
Just curious as I've found cheap washing up gloves to be rubbish and finally bit the bullet and got the brand name ones at double the price - however, we're now into the fifth week of use with no holes in the fingers (where I'd have done through 6 or 7 pairs of cheap gloves) so there is a backward saving there.
What have you found to be a false economy?Life is what you make it. Always has been, always will be0 -

I get about a month's use out of cheapo rubber gloves, but its only me using them which might make a difference!
2ply loo roll - its cheap but people use a lot more of it as its so thin. Not a problem for me but I'm not the only userI now restrict myself to 3ply only offers!

Jog bottoms from Primark. They shrink in length and go baggy at the knees. Had to stitch extensions on the bottom and only use for dog walking, cause I look a right plonker

I'm presuming that you've taken them off and washed them at least a couple of times in the meantime.
My most spectacular false economy was really cheap cling film. Some lessons cannot be taught ...The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
