I am teaching mine not to count money before it has arrived when it relate to Job No2. He might not get any shifts next week or the week.
I was terrible for doing this so I know its a bad habit to get out of.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

yep we were the same ... hubby worked seven days a week for years ... we became very used to the extra money coming in and spent accordingly, got things done in the house, went holidays etc
then it stopped and we were up !!!!!! street... and thankfully i found this place, but i didnt fully learn my lesson, we cleared the debt but didnt change our attitudes, so soon got back into debt, thankfully this time we have learned to change our attitudes so we are slowly pulling ourselves out of the mire
one of the best lessons learned was until it is in our hands it isnt ours0 -

It's not an easy habit to break, I know. Unfortunately, it seems to be one that we all learn the hard way.

Little updated:
I have not managed to pay off any more debt although I now have all the money saved for the new house including the new furniture needed :-)
I think the move date we have is the 5th of May and I am so exicted to get some space back again. Where and who I live with is lovely but it is too small for 3 people and only one shower in the morning!
I have also got £40 stashed in an ISA with a standaring order each month to help save towards repaying the halifax card once the BT runs out in October 2013.
The main target is the First Direct Loan which is the only thing I am paying in interest on and I should be able to pay £800 off that at the begining of April.
I wish I could turn forward time sometimes :-(Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

Actually not paying off debt was not totally true since I have owed my mum £37 as she likes to shop for other peoples Birthday's and Christmas presents without asking me first and Birmingham Council wanted £17 after arguing with them for several months about outstanding charges from 5 years ago (which they never told me about till I was due to get £49 off them)Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

I managed to return from holiday with £30 left which is good as things cost more than I thought. I have started little funds to save for a holiday in November with the OH and to save for Christmas to prevent me spending on credit cards.
I have made a few payments and updated my balances below. I have decided to take things easy with repayments but still get things paid within two years. Thinking about saving money all the time was stressing me out and was not good for me.
I tend to eat when stressed and get a bad belly :-( I found out my job is safe at work so that is a worry off my mind.
Off to Blackpool for the weekend thanks to the OH's Grandparents who we are meeting up there. Really looking forward to it and managed not to spend any of my money this week aside from Groceries and £30 yesterday on lunch and drinks out (had the afternoon off) so will be using the left over as my spending money.
I put £300 into the pot making £360 I can use for extra repayments. I am just holding off making those till we move incase there is something I have not thought of or the OH can not save the other £250 he needs in time.
I just need to think of a Birthday gift for him... I am thinking about popping the question but buying rings is expensive.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

oh that so reminds me of something that happened to hubby and myself years ago
we managed to damage our car in a huge pot hole it cost us a couple of hundred pound to fix it so i sent the bill and photo's etc to the council and claimed the money back,
they phoned me up and asked various questions to which i gave them the answer, they replied with "Mrs El we are upholding your claim for the damage to your car and we will take it off your bill for ( over) £2k that you owe us for poll tax" i was like w.t.f:eek::eek: i dont owe you poll tax i lived in a caravan worked on a y.t.s scheme my oh didnt work when the poll tax was out ... didnt matter we had to pay it ... cost us thousands ... lesson learned there for us :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::cool:0
