Well I made it to Day 5 and its finally the weekend :j Seemed such a long time coming this week. Only two more days to go.

No spends again today. Had cereal and OJ at home for breakfast and took quiche and bread along with some HM cake from the freezer to work for lunch. Had free tea and water at work and its mushroom tortellini for dinner.

The only thing I'm really missing is some more fresh fruit. I eat quite a lot and the stocks have run out so I am missing this. Maybe need to plan a bit better next time to make sure I have more tinned in for back up. I can manage until the end of the weekend however so this will not beat me!

Payday on Monday thankfully and I'll do a stock up shop next week and do some batch cooking and freezing so I have nice health HM meals in the freezer for the month.

Onwards to day 6! Have a lovely weekend everyone.

    Hi everyone
I havent managed a full 7 days FF but I did manage four days on the trot, so Im really pleased about that, especially as my daughter came to stay as well and I fed us out of the cupboards and freezer mostly, something I wouldnt have done before starting this

    Hi Folks,

Just a very quick catch up for me just now. I've kept upto date with your posts but I haven't had chance to respond to them, I'll try and do that later tonight.

Anyway my quick news that I want to post so that it's logged. I managed the 8 Fiscal Fast days that I'd adjusted my target to do, and I had my spendy day yesterday. The $1.05 (.66p) that I had left in my purse from last week was removed and put into my debt tin, and I started my day off with my housekeeping money of $73.00 (approx 45.62GBpounds). Did all my shopping, managed to get everything that was on my list so, I didn't forget anything this week (d'hoh), and even managed to get a couple of things that weren't on my list but had in the back of my mind to get on the off chance I had some spare cash. Anyway I'm happy to report that I came home with $4.20 (approx 2.62GBpounds) left in my purse. So that's nestled there and we'll see if it's still there by my next intended spendy day. Looking ahead at the calendar the next spendy day is due to fall on the weekend and I don't much fancy that so I was going to go Mon 2nd July but that will be a Bank Holiday here for Canada Day so it looks like I'm going to be trying for a 10 day Fiscal Fast and go on Tuesday 3rd July. My meal plan doesn't actually extend this far so we'll just have to see how inventive I can get.

I made another Banana Loaf last night instead of the Granny Loaf that I was planning to bake as the bananas were getting a bit too brown for my liking and I don't like the smell. So I bought some walnuts yesterday and have plans to make Granny Loaf later in the week.

I'm really happy with how little I'm spending at the moment, but I realise with the groceries/toiletries and cleaning products that it's not sustainable, but just hoping to keep going for as long as I can.

Hope you all have a good weekend, and I'll catch up later.

taplady - Okay, so I wished you a happy holiday too soon, so I think I'm now safe to say I hope you had a good holiday :rotfl:.Hope DH had a good 50th birthday and the HM chocolate fudge cake went down well.

thankyou Kerfuffle - we had a lovely holiday and the fudge cake I made went down a treat!

Here's the one I made was delicious!

I've been a bit lax keeping up with the thread lately - just too busy but I'm going to try and pop in more often from now on.

We spent all our budget this week so I need to make it stretch as far as possible.

Last night I did a veggie chilli which was lovely and I had a portion left to freezer:T

Tonight its a veggie stir fry and we're using up a few wraps to make it a bit more filling.

Have a good weekend all x

    Evening all,

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. Well day 6 of the FF today and another NSD. Just pottered around the house today and got lots of jobs done so fairly productive for a weekend! Had cinnamon and raisin bagel from the freezer for breakfast, HM pea, spinach and goat's cheese tart from the freezer with HM potato salad for lunch (and a cheeky glass of vin blanc!) and HM lasagne from the freezer for dinner. I made some easy chocolate biscuits last night so I have them for treats over the weekend as well. My freezer is starting to look a little empty now after the FF but I have plans to fill it up again next week after payday. Planning to make a couple of quiches, a veggie moussaka and some courgette fritters for the month ahead as well as adding some fish fillets and any reduced foods I pick up at the SM, so we'll see how that goes. Let's hope they've got lots of bargains to take advantage of! Need to fill the cupboards with some tinned fruits as well.

Unfortunately I need to pop into work for a few hours tomorrow to get a head start on next week so I'm going to defrost some bread now and make sandwiches to take with me and avoid any spends to meet the 7 days FF.

    Have a good evening everyone!

    Hi Taplady,

I clicked on the link and the cake looks awesome, and lots of good ratings too.

I have all the ingredients, so I think I might just have to give this a try sometime this week

Good luck with the cake Kerfuffle - if you like loads of icing in it I'd make a bit extra but for me it was sweet enough as it was - I kept coming back for more so no good for the diet but delicious!:D

I crumbled a couple of flakes on the top too.:EasterBun

Afetrnoon, ladies x well, it's been a while! The time is right for me now to have another go at fiscal fasting, seeing as we have no money! DH gets paid tomorrow but pretty much all of his wages are spoken for. I was going to do a small shop to top up with fruit, veg, milk, bread etc. but after having a very quick nosy back on here (I have no hope of catching up completely though!!) I am inspired to fast again . I last went shopping a week ago, but again only for very basics. I'm hoping to last out until friday and then do a £30 shop to hopefully last us 2 weeks. I'll read a bit more of the thread tonight when the squiddlies are tucked up to see where you're all up to xxx

    Evening folks,

Well Day 7 of the FF completed! My cupboards and freezer need a little TLC after the FF but it was great not spending any money and avoiding the supermarkets last week. Will need to do some shopping next week to top up but I'm going to continue being as frugal as possible even if not doing the strict FF. How do the rest of you manage your top up shops? I seem to need to do one every other month or so. There's only me in the household so I suspect some of my stocks are lower than those of you with lots to feed, but I still seem to need to stock up quite regularly and do a "big" shop. Any of you have tips of how you stock up and manage to avoid having to do a big shop for quite some time?

Had a poppy seed bagel and OJ for breakfast and then took tuna, pasta & sweetcorn salad to work for lunch along with HM banana loaf from the freezer. Had scrambled eggs on toast for dinner as didn't fancy much and then have just had cups of tea and water during the day. So all in all fairly easy to manage and its only really fresh fruit that I feel I've missed out on.

    Thank goodness its payday tomorrow!

    Have a lovely evening everyone.
