Hi chums treated myself to a new foor processor and spent most of yesterday playing with it.My old one was starting to smoke a bit when in use so it was time to retire it.
Food wise I am pleased with getting my shopping down to once a week early on saturday mornings when there are not too many folk around.Great yesterday as I was back home with my stuff put away so I could spend all day playing with my new kitchen gadget. All the cake tins are full at the moment and I have a very nice quiche that I made with some wholemeal flour for the pastry base.I had one of those packs of chopped up cooking bits of bacon from Tescos in the fridge so I divided it into three cooked one lot to a pan full of crispy bits the other two portions I have shrink wrapped and put in the freezer I also had some pastry left over so thats been wrapped and frozen as well for later in the week.My quiche had chopped onion, bacon bits grated double glocester cheese and three eggs and a left over dollop of single cream in it .when partially cooked in the oven I sprinkled some chopped red peppers on top and a few halves of cherry tomatos. It looks fabulous and mostly made from odds and end in the fridge No where near the cost in the supermarket of about £3.00 oddI think I costed it out at around 80p all told and that will do for lunch and dinner for a couple of days with salad to accompany it.
I also made some spong small cakes and a victoira spong and a lemon drizzle cake and a few scones Just got to knock up some trinks today and my bakings all done.Very productive weekend so far .
No more shopping in the food shops until next saturday I certainly seem to be staying just under my budget and not wasting anything at all.I have just remembered I have half a swede and some carrots in the bottom of the fridge I think I'll bung them and a couple of chopped up spuds and a stick or two of celery in my large pot this morning with some stock and thats a pot of veggie soups sorted for several days .I love making meals out of thin air and making them streeetch a bit.Someone posted a recipe on the site for using up cream crackers I know I have some in the cupboard I may try that out as well today
Well time for breakfast and its a toasted banana sandwich and a large cuppa for me .Then I shall sort the bits out in the kitchen as my eldest DD is coming this morning for her coffee, cake and natter with her old Mum.
keep up the good work chums we will beat this recession somehow:)

Yep, I didn't realise how long it was until I was hooked and couldn't give up on it. Not the sharpest tool in the box. :rotfl:
No spending yesterday for me and the baby. Hubby is away, so decided to visit a different library from our usual as a change of scene, rather than a mooch around the charities. I'm sure babba enjoyed it far more too, cos he could get out and rifle through the books, instead of watching me shop from the buggy.
Not a true NSD though, as OH's on a stag weekend. :beer:MFW start date:22.6.13 - £138555 9.7.13 - £125937

Need to join in on this challenge as I think my job will be made redundant pretty soon due to some org changes. My cupboards are groaning under all the food in them, I have plenty of fresh stuff..... I just worked out how much I need to have coming in to pay the bills and its mega-scary, so need to get saving as much as possible, whilst trying to do up my house, so that I can ease the pain a bit when the axe falls and sell up if needs be! Baby steps though as I am rubbish at not spending.......
DD's sandwiches are made for the week with a 20p YS loaf of bread and safely tucked away in the freezer. Monday's lunch for me is last night's leftovers, which is in the fridge in a box.

Hello,
I've been lurking on this challenge for a while now and love reading how well you are all doing. I'm going to give the Fiscal Fast a go for the next 7 days. I have a couple of planned spends during the week which I'm not going to count (couple of exercise classes I attend every week and some car repairs which are unavoidable) but other than that I am going to aim for 7 days without any other spending. In particular, there will be no supermarket shopping and no spends on drinks or snacks at work!
I have enough food in the cupboards and freezer to get me through the week and some UHT milk in the cupboard so I won't need fresh. I've also just baked a "granny loaf" from the Be-ro book for snacks at work during the week - basically SR flour, brown sugar, golden syrup, raisins, walnuts and milk, mixed together and baked - makes a flattish cake which is lovely sliced and served warm with butter, mmm. Much cheaper than buying bits at work!
I'll aim to pop on everyday and update everyone on how I'm getting on.
Good luck to everyone else fasting or just cutting back through the week!

Thanks xx0 -
Made it through day 1 fine but am in the office now, feeling out of sorts and want to spend, spend, spend!! One of my colleagues keeps on asking me what I'll do when I lose my job! I've not had any conversation with my boss so I could be concerned about nothing. However, I shall keep smiling, keep my head down and try to ignore the silly moo! (oh and eat lots of chocolate I discovered in my desk......oops)0

Hello everyone,
Haven't been around for ages, but have decided to have another week of FFing, starting tomorrow. Have done no preparation - just made up my mind 5 minutes ago - but have plenty of stores etc, and have bought milk today, so should be fine.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Managed to do my second FF day, hoorah and have lovely dinner leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The chocolate stocks have been attacked though.......oops, never mind!0
