Good Morning everyone ,well holidays have arrived at last and my car is crammed full of stuff to take with me.Only have one grandson to add to it and a nother case.Lots of tinned odds and ends have been put in there along with cricket bats, balls football, crabbing nets rods and all the other paraphanalia that comes with four lads,Dd her OH two dogs and the hamster cage complete with 'cheesywotsits' (said hamster )Named for its passion for said snack
:):)
So the last bit of left over loot went into the holiday pot and so with all left over cash for the past 12 months from my food budget and 'road kill' shrapnel found by eagle-eyed grandchildren we have an extra £87.98 towards the food bill for two weeks ,added to that is £56.00 from jointly saved MrT points and £19.58 from nectar points we have a total between us from odds and ends saved over the year of £163.56 which is virtually one weeks food for 7 of us for week one of our holidays. DD and I budget towards getting at least the first week 'free' so it helps out with the second week.
I have a big stash of tinned food and staples to take with me in my car as well.Washoing powder, loo rolls etc.It all helps to cut down on what money we have in our food 'pool' I have also taken from my freezer a 4lb chicken and a gammon ham which will be cooked tonight or tomorrow for meals over the weekend.
we organise our holiday almost like a military operation:):)So all we need now is some sunshine and we will be on the beach with the boys and Granny will be knitting and organising the picnic and the boys will be hopefully in the sea or 'crabbing' with Mum and Dad
So I'' 'see' you all in a fortnight
Cheers chums I'll probably come home brown and brassic but thats what holidays are all about.

LOL, read that and thought Are they insane?! then remembered you're in NZ so that'll be high summer not midwinter........:rotfl:Camping and Christmas aren't words which get paired in northern Europe, unless you're seriously hardcore or possibly bonkers.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We've only been here 3 years so I still find Christmas in the summer weird. Not Christmassy at all!!!0 -

Managed to get through last week by spending a grand total of £6.19 myself! £3.99 on a Xmas present (should have been a tenner) and £2.20 on some lunch on Friday as I had a major case of CBA!
The horrible weather is helping keep spends down, hopefully this will continue and not drive me to spend through boredom, although we do have quite a few events coming up in the next 6 weeks or so a bit of spends will be unavoidable0 -
I've disgraced myself today by treating myself to fish and chips, which is extravagant but they were loooverly.
Thus far, I have spent very little this month on non-essentials. Have paid utility bills, the dentist, the hairdresser and the bike shop but other than a few random spends which could have been avoided (sweeties) which I shall total at month's end, it has just been a few quid on groceries and £6 on archery.
I have flexed some clubcard vouchers into a new pair of trousers so no money changed hands but a wardrobe need was met. I've been in charity shops and bought nothing, have been reading a mixture of library books and things I already owned and am not feeling the slightest bit deprived.
I think I agree with my Dad, commenting on the numbers of people milling around shopping areas; I think they're shopping because they don't know what else to do with their time..........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We are continguing on , a grand total of $2 spent at the weekend on discounted milk, and I used my bike for getting around.
As always tho, things conspire against us. My car has had to go into the mechanics today as I had a very scary problem with the brakes yesterday. The good news is that the mechanic hasn't found a major problem, but it will need a little bit of work doing. There's always something!0 -
Hello all,
Hoglet, how scary about the car brakes.
I need to do another fiscal fast as money is draining out of our bank account at an alarming rate. We are in the process of selling our house and so we have all the associated expenditure.
I have also been relying far too much on ready meals as I have been too exhausted with getting the house ready for sale. So for the fiscal fast I am going to be using up what foods I have in the freezer and pantry.
Fiscal Fast starts tomorrow, Tuesday.
