VERY VERY VERY WELL SAID GQ! I unlike yourself could not have put into words your post but I feel every bit of it . like Jacki I have stuff in my cupboard not out of date or no where near out of date that had nearly doubled from I bought it. I can quite happily be a hoarder, prepper, storer or just a downright fillanderer of MY cash but its all in stuff I use, will use and will not be throwing out.

What a spot on post GQ :Aput it into words in a nutshell well done.:j I think we all have lots of toiletries left over from Christmas etc and my Dds knowing what a frau frugal I am always seem to 'donate' to me stuff they aren't keen on I never turn it down as it saves me cash in the long run and some things are really nice ,but why do I seem to have enough 'body lotion' to float a battlship.

I only have one rather battered body and what ever I splash on it ,it never seems to improve it much any ideas what else I can use this stuff for :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Same here. So whole I am not spending anything I am using up food stocks, but I will replace it when I do my next mega shop. It will not be thrown away. I might not replace everything as my tastes change.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

good evening chums and have managed to steer clear of shops today, so thats 10 days with no shopping bought:j:j:j
Tonight when I left DD's she gave me a plastic box with some left over chicken in it as they had eaten an extra larger one yesterday so she had lots of left overs.I brought it home and made this

half a diced up red onion (from the veg box)
1 small diced carrot (last in the veg tray in the bottom of the fridge)
three chopped up mushroom that needed using up
two tea spoons of Lazy Garlic(I just love that stuff)
1 small packet of YS passata(packet was a bit battered but unopened and I bought 3 weeks ago for 15p and its sat in my fridge ever since
a small yellow diced pepper from the freezer
The left over chicken: probably a leg and a bit of breast which I chopped up
Last bit of concentrated curry in the box (a medium sized lump)

Put a good splash of garlic olive oil into my big pot and chucked everything in brought it up to a slow simmer and apart from giving it a stir now and again left it to cook for about half an hour while I watched Corrie :):):)

Looked at it after Corrie was over and it had thickened up nicely to a very tasty chicken lumpy curry sauce. Decanted the lot into three portions and left to cool overnight in the larder.Tomorrow I will have three hearty curry meals for next to nothing. One portion I will have with rice tomorrow night, and two for the freezer.I have streetched my left over bit of cooked chicken to make three dinners using up stuff I already had in the fridge/freezer and cupboard. I am mightily pleased with it, and had a taste and its gorgeous. Right at the end when it was cooling a bit on the marble slab I put two good tablespoons of basic natural yoghurt in the mixture and its very nice and a creamy texture :D

Having done that tonight I may get another day or so before going near a shop now as I have tomorrow nights dinner done and dusted already:j

Day 12, NSD today as my friend donated some left over eggs as she was going on holiday so I am making a quiche with them I have some left over bacon to use up and some diced red onion, mixed with three 'free' eggs and dumped into a pastry case it will make a nice quiche to eat hot or cold with sald over the next couple of days.My shopping bits on the list aren't that urgent anyway so i'd rather stay at home and just potter around a bit. Knitting and maybe a bit of reading this afternoon as I got all the ironing done yesterday
I made a big Victoria sponge this morning for DGD Jack for tomorrow and also a box of biscuits (melting moments are the boys favourites)
So a fairly frugal day today with nothing spent :):):)

Sorry I haven't posted in ages but I have been reading on my phone - it's very difficult to post as it's so slow to write but now I have my computer I can perhaps post more.
We are off on holiday on the 24th, so that's 10 days and I aim to fiscal fast them, more or less 100%. I will have to get some fruit and veg probably and I certainly will need to post some items which will cost. Otherwise though I am planning to keep spends right down.
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Hello all

The last couple of weeks I have not kept track, what with a fibro flare and hubby being on two weeks holiday.

Back now on a fiscal fast, day 2. I have just under £40 left in my grocery purse to last until the 27th July, and I am trying to save as much of it as I can to put towards my rainy day fund.

Feeling tired this evening as had, for me, a productive day doing householdy things. Need to make a cup of tea to have with a homemade biscuit and then sit down with Jack's cookbook and menu plan.

Hope you are all doing ok.

    Erica, are you ok?

    Peony x

    Hi everyone,

I have lurked on this thread for a while, and always fancied trying it. DH is on board with lots of my money saving ways, but I never thought he'd go for this. So I finally asked him just now and he said OK lets do it..! :-)

So tomorrow he will do the shop as per usual and then no spends other than DDs and petrol for me to commute to work - he should be fine for fuel as he works close to home and just put fuel in last weekend.

It's me that will find this hard - I leave for work really early to avoid the worst of the traffic, and then have to kill an hour or so when I get in. I usually get a coffee and sit and read my book, I don't really like to read my book at my desk (I am the only one in at that time so I can pretty much do what I want) as it makes me feel like I've had a very long day. So I will try and come up with a solution. I think I will clean out my cafetiere mug and bring it into work, and sit on the sofa rather than at my desk, and see how I get on with that.... I guess if I didn't turn the light on I could have a cheeky snooze......

I know I have just got stuck into a habit of buying coffees and I just need to break it and find something else to do. Similarly I often nip out at lunch and I need to make sure that if I do I don't take my wallet. I've tried it before but without having a goal of doing it for continually for 7 days I tend to drift off course.

Our home loan is up for renewal in October and I would love to have some extra cash to inject into it at that time.

    Here goes...!
