Had to go shopping today,adopt-a-cat made it very clear she now want's meat....like right now,by trying to eat my feet when in bed this morning, so got her food and bread and milk for me & OH, and that should do us for the next week, and on the plus side of going through the freezer using stuff up I'v now got a draw empty,3 more to go and I can defrost it,then start filling it again... with an upto date list on the door so I know what I'v got in.

I've just joined MSE (after lurking without registering for a year) and think I'd like to get involved in this... I'd love to see how I could get on without spending for a week. I'm having big money problems (hence joining) so would be interested to see how I could cope for the week. My ASDA shop of necessities arrives soon, so I guess I'll see if I've made the right purchases :)

:T Lovely to have you aboard, ava, well done for taking the plunge into the forums. Bygorry, if you like to money-save, this is the place to do it. More power to your elbow.

Half the day was lost to rain so I just had to play around on t'intenet, as you do, but I went to play on my allotment. Fresh air, exercise and you even get to bring home free food.:rotfl:

I have opened my purse at YS time this afternoon, but a loaf of bread for 7p is too good to leave, isn't it? That's this week's pack-ups sorted out.

I have bookmarked that site which recycles the CDs and DVDs as have had to bin these in the past and been stressed by the wastefulness, so am pleased to have this among my resources.

Cunning plan for the rest of the evening is to chill, play on the web, drink tea and maybe eat hot buttered toast before lolling in a bath. I have discovered I still have a chunk of L*sh birthday present fancy soap, so will enjoy that.

Hokay, onwards and upwards, wallets tightly cinched and purse-strings tightened tighter than a tight thing (and that's waterproof ;)).

Thank you for the lovely welcome GreyQueen :) hope you enjoy that bath, I absolutely LOVE L*sh stuff... it's on my list of forbidden goodies for now though :)

I've been on a site making Sw*gb*cks for a wee treat... it's possibly going to take a while but it keeps me busy!

Going to get up to the attic and sort out clothes for selling at car boot/F@ceb**k for sale groups... fingers crossed I find something worth more than a couple quid ;-)

:) I like it but never buy it for myself, but if someone wants to buy it for me, I am a happy bunny.

Regular soap is Knights Castile, which I stocked up on 2 years ago when I saw that the pkts in the cheap stores were suddenly going from 6 x 100g bars for £1/ 99p to 5 bars per pack.

They're still 5 bars in the pack, but the second daylight robbery was shrinking each bar down to 90g, so you are down 1.5 bars per multipack on what you got for your money before.

Or you would be if you didn't have lots of them laid up ready to use in the airing cupboard, like wot I have. ;)

Bathtime calls, toodle-pip, my lovelies. GQ xx

Evening everyone. NSD 3 here plus sold a couple of sewing patterns on Facebook for £4. Hardly earth shattering I know but it feels good to end the day in credit!

Hi ava and welcome, good to see another friendly 'face' hoping to hang on to their pennies. You are right £4.00 is not to be sniffed at as it can be turned into several meals with a bit of foresight and maybe some canny shopping.I came home from DDs tonight with 4 left over roast spuds, a couple of tiny sausages and a yorkshire pud all in a bowl with some foil on top.Not enough left overs for DD and her tribe but enough for me to use with some cabbage from the fridge and a chop from the freezer tomorrow night, so an almost free dinner :):):).I also saw that my four apples in the conservatory are looking a bit sad so they will be peeled sliced and cooked in some water with a dollop of lemon curd tomorrow and will be used as a base for a sponge pudding.I love using up things like that, and lemon curd adds a bit of flavour and tartness instead of sugar So tomorrows dinner is sorted out.Tuesday night I am at quiz night at the pub, where for £2.00 we have a nice evening and supper and the chance of winning a bottle of wine.I'm a cheap date :):):)
I am hoping to stay away from shops tomorrow as well as I have nothing really very needed on my shopping list :):):)
    Onwards and upwards chums

Evening everyone - just popping into declare NSD number 4.

Dinner tonight was enough to serve at least tow - so I'm having the same tomorrow - it was a chicken breast and some bacon - both sliced into mouth size pieces - cooked in the slowcooker with an ood can mushroom soup from the store cupboard and mushrooms from the bottom of the fridge - all served with potatoes, carrots and broccolis. the soup made a thin sauce so I added a couple of tablespoons of instant cheese sauce to thicken it up.

for pudding I have some freezer stewed apples, bulked out with raspberries from the garden ad topped with a crumble mixture made from store cupboard ingredients - including some jumbo oats that need to be used up. There is a tin of custard in the store cupboard to serve with it - and there's enough to freeze some portions - mmm.

As an extra bonus I can start to see space in the store cupboard - I'm getting somewhere!
