  • I'm going to have to go shopping later - house full of visitors this weekend! One thing I do know - I'll spend probably half of what I would have done in the past, and be able to rustle up meals just as tasty and nutritious.

Anyway, must dash - have a good FF weekend everyone!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

Day 2 of the Fiscal Fast here and reality is kicking in lol! Tonight is SW weigh in but the fees are budgeted for elsewhere, alas I cannot now buy anymore delicious blackcurrant cheesecake hi fi bars or the magazine :( I shall have to re read my old ones for now! Lots of recipes in there!

Staying in today and catching up with the laundry and have a pram blanket on the crochet hook to work on so that should keep me warm and away from my purse. Lunch was leftover hm veg soup and a small ham and marmite sandwich. Dinner tonight will be the Cumberland sausages I bought on bogof last week with mash, cabbage and carrots. Plenty of 0% greek yogurt and fruit in for puds. Phew! Found all the ingredients to have a go at Jack Munros Kidney bean, cumin and carrot burgers, some for tomorrow and some for the freezer. The sw mushy pea curry was yummy, added a diced chicken breast to last nights portions and the rest is now in the freezer.

Very jealous of your mushrooms bargain Saving4life, love mushroom soup here!

    Enjoy your visitors Winchelsea!

Hope your dd is better asap Mam of 5!

JackieO - love your posts, so much wisdom and positivity!

Right a quick read to catch up then off to tackle the ironing pile!

Hi Jackie! The Mushy Pea curry recipe is very easy.

Saute 1 chopped onion in frylight. Add a good spoonful of curry powder to taste. Add 2 tins of mushy peas, 1 tin of tomatoes and 1 tin of baked beans, give a good stir and simmer. Add diced chicken or prawns etc or lovely just on its own. As I said it sounds yukky but is lovely and I don't normally like mushy peas. Not sure how many calories but not a lot as on Slimming world easy eating plan it is a no syn meal I believe! :) It makes loads though so be ready with some containers for the freezer!

  • i did manage not to spend today, as something awful happened and just wanted to stay at home. we paid for a deposit to move into a new flat which was much better for kids and i went to letting agents and the owner has done a runner to Dubai with everyone's money, im gutted, but feel awful for those who have lost thousands!!
  • Fiscal Fast Day: 7 (I think!?) I'm starting to loose track of how many days I've been FF. I had a wonderful day yesterday with my Mom. She rented us some movies, and took me out to dinner (she paid for both!) then we went back to my Mom and Dad's house and watched the movies. It was a lot fun.
However, I was nearly tempted to go and spend today just because I was bored. Luckily for me, the temptation went as quickly as it came. ("Phew!!! That was Close!!")
It seems to be a pattern, that when I get bored I want to go and spend money. At least I am recognizing it! I need to meal plan for dinner and for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next couple of days. I am starting to really see the back of my freezer!!
I am going to lurk around the thread for a while and read other posts for motivation and inspiration to continue my Fiscal Fast. Afterwards I think I am going to continue knitting my cotton towels.
Have a great No Spend or Low Spend Day Everyone!!!

I make a pea and ham soup using mushy peas, it is really easy, I just put a tin of mushy peas in a saucepan and I use a potato masher to mash the peas a little and add 0.5 ham stock cube and a little hot water until the soup is the right consistency and heat up. Some people use a whole stock cube but I find it too salty as I like quite a thick soup.

Thanks chums for the recipes.I seem to have about a dozen tins at the back of my cupboards These will come in handy when I run short of fresh veg.Mmmm soup /curry.When my freezer gets a bit more room I can make some to freeze.I love veggie curry with bottom of the fridge veg thats past its best.Great way to use it up.Cheers I shall copy and paste the recipes.
Day 11 and a NSD today as I have history club this afternoon and a morning with the ironing board first :):).Will have to go at some point over the weekend though as I am running short of salad bits.I will try to last until Sunday if I can though

    Hello all

How awful mam_of_five. There are some truly selfish and horrible people on this planet. I hope you will be able to get your money back at some time.

I'm starting day 1 again as I failed miserably yesterday when I brought a piece of triple layer lemon curd cake from the cafe at work. It was very nice though.Sorry to let you all down. Serves me right if I get an extra inch on the belly.:o it was a big piece.
