Thanks for the idea about poached pears JackieO, just this morning I rinsed out a squeezy bottle of honey that had all crystallised in the bottom, before emptying the water and putting in the recycle bin I suddenly realised there was probably a use for honey water - and up you pop with your lovely idea! So I shall poach some pears tonight to have on my porridge tomorrow morning.

Lilian- if you buy glass jars of honey and it crystallises, just pop it in microwave for about 15 seconds and it reverts back again. Lady who makes honey told me this

    I've been Money Tipped!
Lovely to see this thread still going strong! :)

I am joining in again as money is tight after a wonderful trip to visit with friends abroad. A new grandchild is on the horizon and Christmas not long after that so need to pinch those pennies again.

I will need some milk and eggs but have a voucher to use so not a big spend! veg and fruit in, not so much meat but enough for a while and fish too. Going to try making lentil dhal as I have a packet or two from approved foods to use and some nice hot curry powder. Tonight will be Slimming worlds mushy pea curry (is better than it sounds) as it makes loads so I can pop some into the freezer for another meal. Just made some soup using up some carrots, potatoes and onions. Served with some chips made with the peels. Making some apple juice last by diluting it with water as we do for our granddaughter.

Erica I make cotton dish cloths too, often giving them as presents, there are some lovely patterns online, cats, dogs and hearts. For cleaning cloths though I prefer just rows of knit (garter stitch) as that makes for a scratchier/scrubbable surface if you see what I mean.

    Catz x

Thank you - I do usually do this but it was a plastic squeezy bottle and no matter how liquidy I made it it just wouldn't come out! x

  • well i went and spent some money today, but i only spent £11 id i had gone to any other shop it would have been £100. so even though i did spend im proud for not spending out much and now i have butter and juice wont need to go back out again thats the theory anyway lol.
i do love to knit not as good as some as im a lefty and it took my mam years to teach me as shes a righty, so maybe i should take this up again will keep me busy at least and stop me hankering for the shops, would love to learn to crochet, maybe i should get a book from library. anyway well done to all of u x
  • Hugs to you too Ericadawn x
Wish it was 25th now though, although just as well not. I was at work this morning came home really tired and laid on sofa and fell asleep for 2 hours, woken by some people from the Red Cross canvassing about vulnerable people in the community, well I don't know what came over me but I became very emotional and weepy and had to end the conversation . I kept thinking about my mum, and I had to go inside the house. I feel reall embarrassed saying that, but once upon a time I would have got my purse and gone out spending , but knowing I can come n here and talk honestly really helps. You are all my therapy :) and I thank you for that.
I am off work tomorrow so. Have gathered all the ingredients for a baking session, which will help keep me occupied to. I am trying an ombr! cake, which is 4 different flavour layers, graduated in colour with the lightest on top, and then covered in a ganache. Not sure it will help my diet but as I get weighed on a Wednesday I allow myself an indulgance on a Thursday ( that's my excuse anyway :)). I pay for my slimming club every 12 weeks so no money spent on that this week either.
Hope everyone has a good night and thanks for listening x

Good Morning chums, well day 10 and still holding out from the temptation of the shops .Won't be hard today as once I have done the school run with my youngest DGS mikey I shall be back at DDs for the rest of the day .the other three DGS are home today as their teachers are on strike at school.(I was never that lucky when I was at school:)years ago, all of my teachers ALWAYS turned up :):):))
So I have a 17,13 & 12 year old to feed and keep cheerful today. The eldest is no problem as he has lots of school work to get on with as he is in his last year of his 'A'levels. The other two are also fairly easy as one will want to be on his X box and the other his PS3.That will keep them happy while I sort DDs downstairs bathroom out I promised her I would give it a good 'bottoming out' while she was at work.So my morning is taken care of.Then this afternoon if the weather brightens up we can take the dogs for a walk over to the woods for a run.The boys are fairly easy going and as long as they are fed at regular intervals they are happy chappies :):)So definitely nowhere near a shop today (the boys hate shopping anyhow )

I am hoping to get through until Saturday before having to buy much.My lamb bone made a smashing soup and I shall take some round today for the boys to try it
You are all doing well and hanging on to your cash. mam_of_five good idea to 'forget' your purse then you can't be tempted. My Dd is also a Mum of five although she only has four living at home now,but they are four strapping lads with appetites to match.Hope your Dd is feeling better today.
medical emergencys don't really count as spending as they are something that has to be bought.
    Right onwards and upwards chums
Have a good non-spending day what ever you are doing

  • Have really enjoyed reading everyones posts, very inspiring and I aim to start a proper FF when I am organised. However I have been trying this week and spent about £5 total compared to my usual £10 per day. Got a kilo of mushrooms from A*da for 10p and have made the most lovely soup. Thank you for your inspiration!
