Good morning everyone and well done on all the progress :)
I am afraid that I've been bad :( OH got free tickets to go see the screening of the new Tom Hanks film ( highly reccommended I do like that man) but I wasn't organised ( normally I have sweeties and pop in my handbag) but forgot and succumbed to buying from the cinemas (I know so silly) . But now I have only a few pence in my purse so I can't spend any more. I will need bus fair for Monday but will ignore the cash machine till nearer the time.
On the up side I have done a meal plan and a list of whats in my freezer and cupboards and plan to streeeeeeech this out as long as possible. OH has a cash and carry card so I stock up on things ( after I have checked they aren't cheaper on offer at the supermarket) and portion for the freezer.
    Anyway I better stop rambling
Have a good and frugal day
    Cuddles :)

    Day 1 (again)

    Morning all.

So it starts again for me today and I really need to be very careful. The car is going to the garage in a while ( where is the lying on the floor crying smilies when you need it) but DH is paying for it so not a spend for me.

We have full cupboards after yesterday's shopping so no food needed for a while. The only time I may slip up is fruit for DS but that is from the food budget anyway.

    Have a cheap day everyone.

    Hello FF Friends,
Restarting day one today, and I hope to last untill October 25. (Fingers Crossed) I was just given some frozen cartons of raspberry lemonade :) so that will last me a while. I have been trying to make up a list of everything I have in my refridgerator, freezer and cuboards. (whew that's A LOT of work!!)
I finnished a small cotton towel I started to knit a while back and plan to knit more of them, so that I don't always have to buy paper towels. I also think the cotton towels I knit are much better at cleaning up spills. I don't have to waste paper towels.
I have a lot of cotton yarn as I bought a big roll of colorful cotton yarn at Walmart years ago. It was very cheap. I had always been meaning to knit small cotton towels it's just not always easy to find the time.As I have put knitting Prayer Shawls for others at the very top and knitting things for myself at the bottom. Well here is to my attempt to do a FF untill October 25!! I can do it!!!
    Parsiniphead, you can do it!!
Take Care Friedns and ((HUGS)) to all of you!!

P.S. just wondering if any of you have a Facebook page? I would LOVE to have friends from another country on there!!

  • Hello to you all, and thank you for making me feel welcome. I love reading about what to have been doing, and how you manage your fast.

I have completed a day without spending, phew... (Apart from my stamps which I took the money out of yesterday before locking my purse away).
I have my fuel money but that is in a separate purse and I budget very carefully with that so have enough to get me to the two weeks when I get paid again. To help me curb my spending, I withdrew in cash my budgets for the month when I got paid last, to keep me on track I even withdrew a set amount for pocket money for myself, ie if I met up with friends for coffee. I have to say it has helped, as I don't want to spend that and am hanging on to it ... It has been a real eye opener for me to just use cash and not hand over my debit card all the time. And I also went through 3 months bank statements and got a real shock to see how much was just spent with nothing to show for it.
To keep me on track today I made some biscuits for my oh and some bread. Like you Ericadawn I have a bread maker , mine ended up covered in dust in the garage for a few years until I dug it out a year ago, now it gets used for not only making bread but quite often I will make some jam in it too, it uses up any fruit which I might once have thrown out and I mix different fruit combinations too. The jam comes in handy for any cakes I make.
I am not very crafty, unfortunately , and I cannot knit ( my mum used to try and teach me when I was a child but I had no patience ) how I wish now that I had learned, so I stick to cooking and let my daughter do the crafts and knits.
Apologies for rambling on, heaven knows what it must seem like, but thank you for listening :)

    Good morning everyone :)
Well done to everyone, every penny saved is a penny that may help you out of a mess later:)
Saying that as hard as I try my pennies seem to be dissapearing fast. I was determined not to spend anything yesterday but needed to go and order my prescription and ask about flu shots. We aren't eligible for the nurse doing it and was told that a certain big supermarket was cheapest so off I trotted to book mine and OHs appointment and of course had to pay in advance ( but I work on the theory that not getting the flu will be a good thing and pay for itself when I don't need to buy medicine ) I was very good though I headed straight back out the door after that not stopping till I was home again.
It would have been a planned spend it just came sooner than expected.
Anyway I better get on with my day
Keep warm everybody and have a nice day
    Cuddles:)

Hello! This is day two of my FF and I have NO desire to go and spend. I am just feeling grateful for everything I have. I have planned to go through my cuboards, refridgerator and freezer to see what I have to last me untill the 25th of this month.
I just want to make my pennies streeetch untill they scream!! It is clear, sunny and cold here. I woke up with my beautiful fur baby/cat cureld up next to my legs. That always makes my mornings bright.
I am going to continue to knit my cotton towel today. (It is only an inch long so far!) I know if I make more and more I won't have to keep buying paper towels. They do get exspensive.
Well I am off to organize the fridge, freezer and cuboards while listening to The Beach Boys, Beatles and George Harrison's Solo CD's. I love his, All things must pass CD!! RIP George!!!
This is FF Day 2 of 14!! I can do it!! Keep going friends, you CAN do it!! Love and Hugs, Erica Dawn

Made chutney this afternoon so was able to keep busy too.
Hope everyone has had a good day.
