So I phoned CCCS this morning for advice because everything was getting to be a bit too much. I haven't been posting on my diary for a while because I was kind of ashamed that instead of making improvements my debt seemed to be and was getting a whole lot worse. The man I spoke to made me feel a whole lot better.

SO I'm here and I'm going to be brutally honest.

My debt is now just under £8000. I have 9 debts in total - most of them payday loans. On the plus side I've got a plan to work it out. The benefits I was saying about have been sorted so I will have £140 free each month to pay off debts. I'm going to make token payments to my credit card while I pay off the smaller debts. That way I can use all the money free from paying off those smaller debts to make large amounts on the credit card.

I'm going to update my signature as showing a figure of £8000 debt. I have some interest been added onto some of my loans so I don't know the exact figure but it's definately less than £8000.

I'm going to sit and write letters to all the companies I owe money to tomorrow and on pay day I'm going to send a token payment off with each letter so that they know I'm trying to make an effort.

I sat and did the math last night. If I only pay off £10 per month on each one of my debts and then add the spare £10 to the larger debts when each smaller one is paid off it's going to take me over 10 years to clear everything.

I haven't included any money I make from AVON in that yet because I want that money to be kept as saving for emergencies. That way not only will I have an emergency fund I'll be paying debts off at the same time.

I'm going to sit and work out a better budget and see where I can cut out money so that I can pay extra debts off.

  • Hi squidge,
I'm glad you got in touch with cccs, you sound much more positive. I hope that keeping a diary keeps you more focused - cos that's my plan as well:).
I had a look at your soa and unfortunately i don't have anything helpful to suggest, hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to help. But on a positive note, when your oh is well enough to go back to work and the rent arrears are settled, you will really be able to hammer those payday loans.
Sorry if this sounds a bit stilted but i'm not used to posting on forums and i can't make it sound the way i would say it in person, it's also not helping that ds is having a mad woggle hunt!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Being nosy, why do you have to have a crb check to do mystery shopping?
    Take care.

The CRB check is for a job I was going to go for at £11 an hour starting it would be amazing for my finances but there aren't many hours going for it and you have to pay for your own CRB check which I can't afford at the moment.

I feel so much more better now that I have a plan in place. When he's back at work the rent will be split straight down the middle so while we have rent arrears I'll still have an extra £60 to throw at the debts etc.

CCCS really do work wonders in making people feel good about themselves :)

    So I'm back

Went through a bit of a rough patch for a while. My partner and I split up and I'm now with someone who appreciates the fact that I would like to get debt free.

I have no internet access so visit the library on a Wednesday so will be back next week to update you all some more
