Does anyone know if Santander will pay out on transferred-in ISA's should Rory McIlroy win the PGA? They say should he win 1 major in the two years period they will pay 0.1% bonus

They should be - doesn't matter whether you transferred in, or paid new money. Though I can't find the list now of what Santander consider 'majors'.

Anyway, Rory has just won the USPGA, which counts as a 'major' on golf circles. So we should all get a few pennies extra.

Not bad, that bumps it up to 4.1% over 2 years, pretty good as they are now only doing a 2 year fix at 3.6% and BOE base rates are likely to go to 0.25% next month.

An additional one-off bonus of 0.10% tax free will be applied if Rory McIlroy wins one or more of the eligible golf ‘Majors’ (as specified).

Eligible Majors are: US Open in June 2012 and 2013, the Open Championship in July 2012 and 2013, US PGA championships in August 2012 and 2013, and The Masters in April 2013 and 2014.

Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on earning all the Santander 4.0% 2 year fixed rate Major ISA investers an additional 0.1% bonus.:T

It's a pity we don't get 0.1% for each major title he might win in the qualifying period.
  • Nice to get 0.1% bonus thanks to Rory. I'll buy him a pint if I ever meet him.

I never got any interest in July 2012 (ISA started in April 2012, by transferring previous years' ISA). Wonder whether anyone else did?

I transferred existing Santander ISA into the 2 year Major ISA by phone on 7 March. Sent application form to transfer in funds from Nationwide ISA on 12 March.

    My transactions show:
8 March Interest paid after tax £0.00 (on the 'old' ISA)
19 March Cheque paid in at banking centre (from Nationwide)
    20 March Adjustment value date
20 March Cheque paid in at banking centre
2 May Interest paid after tax £0.00

So mine looks ok. Nice to have the extra 0.1% though :T

Edit Interest was credited on both the above dates the £0.00 relates to tax - sorry! Also, interest date 2 May was what was specified in T&C received on account opening.

Its not a "proper" 4.1% AER since the 0.1% will be paid as a one-off bonus on the balance on 1 June 2014.

Seems it may be just me then - - definitely no interest credited on June 1, which they should have done according to the T&Cs that apply to my account. However, I do have a letter from them confirming my interest start date is April 19, so I might just wait and see what I get in June 2013.

I opened the Santander 4.00% Major ISA on 28th March 2012 by transferring two other ISAs. The monies appeared in the Major ISA on 5th April 2012. According to my account statement Interest was added to the account on 2nd May 2012.
