Dublin M50 Toll Penalty Enforceable?

They sent a fine to my husband along with an image of what looked like our car. But with inspector the number plate they got it wrong. They stated our number but the image clearly showed another.
I sent them a letter stating this.
That was two months ago. Today we got a letter from them (as a debt collector) using the same company name. Demanding we pay (£44.84 for a toll fine in Dublin).

I’m ignoring it.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Firstly, as to whether these fines are enforceable I am not sure because they are 100% unfair and disproportionate. Ireland has a tradition of being a fair country however some of the politicians are not always the most community spirited and serve their own interests so it is possible somebody has done a deal and handed eflow the opportunity to gouge people ridiculous amounts of money for otherwise small toals for something that is very easy to not realise exists. Such as the E-Toll which is very easy to not realise you are going through it. especially if you are concentrating on the road and not signs that appear to have no relevance to a driver. having visited Spain and had to go to cork and back from Belfast number of occasions in the last 2 months they have claimed that I owe them something in the region of €6 in toll money but the fines are €70. it's clearly very unfair and it's gouging it's exploiting people's vulnerability and it's disgusting practice the road is good but it is not that good. there seems to be a little political will to correct this situation and it will cause problems and put people off our beautiful country. sadly some politicians only care about their big houses and their fancy cars , they don't care about the people whatsoever. Sadly Ireland is becoming more and more like Britain everyday. except in the case of the E-Toll I cannot imagine this happening in England for example, people would not put up with it. it's a very very very poorly thought out stupid scheme giving a big company a chance to price gouge people who didn't realise they were even approaching a toll area. the very very short periods of time before toll goes from being an amount to be paid to being a huge fine are staggering. I don't know the legal ins and outs but because this is such an unfair practice I would avoid paying the fine I don't expect that you will have a problem and less you move to Ireland and then it may be different. it may also be an idea that if you own them a lot of money you should rent a car in Ireland and not take yours on the off chance it gets clamped but I doubt they are allowed to do this. I will reiterate one more time Ireland is one of the most welcoming countries on this planet but some of these new laws and measures are really bad for our nation they reflect poorly on people that are some of the most wonderful on God's earth. I would take a fair guess that anyone coming on to this forum especially English looking to know how they need to do with this is somebody that respects our country and our laws unfortunately our country doesn't seem to have respect for people sometimes. a fairly new policy that has been underlying for many years of various corrupt prime ministers and corrupt officials. you will struggle to find a more welcoming people than the Irish in this planet however our government is a shambles. not to say it's in perfect there are many wonderful policies implemented here in Ireland but the E-Toll is certainly far from being one of them is a disgrace.0

You do realise that you posted on a thread that was started eight years ago - they've probably paid the fine/invoice now! And this should not have been on here in the first place as this is a parking tickets forum - not your fault.0
