Are there still automatics that have two hoses for a hot & cold fill? We have coal fired heating and loads of very hot water, and it bugs me when I have to fill the WM with cold and then use elect to heat it up!

We looked for one a few years ago when we were changing ours and were told that they don't make them anymore. Bugs me too, when I know I have roasting hot water and it fills with cold and then heats up. GGGRRRRRRFather Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Hi Mardatha,
I've moved your thread over to the In My Home board to see if you can get some advice from the experts there.

Its a huge myth that washing machines were getting filled with hot water.
What they were actually getting fed with when taking in 'hot water' through the hot tap was actually the 'dead leg' of cold water that was resting in the pipes. In some cases this could be many litres. This was then replace with hot water from the tank whichy was cooling down very quickly. So the hot water was never actually getting into the washing machine.
But because the washing machine was expecting hot water, it realised it was cold and then heated the water up itself. Hence the water was being heted twice. Very energy inefficient. So now all WMs are cold fill and the water is heated (if needed) just the once.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
My LG WM-14311FD has hot fill but it was bought about 5 years ago. Might be worth checking other LG direct drive machines.
A newer model the LG F1456QD that is currently stocked by Currys, shows in the manual to have the a hot inlet (but is optional).

Can't you just fit the cold fill hose onto the hot pipe?0

No, because then you'd get a machine full of warm water, not good when you want a cool wash. It would also do all the rinses with hot water as well. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
