current offer from Nildram. Looks good. No static IP, but hey, its cheap and its 50 GB cap (read = uncapped). Look here for details:

hope this is good for some. Called ADSL4 Less (my current ISP) and asked them for a MAC number. They now like to know, who I am going to, and if there was anything they could do, to make me stay with them.... haha

I am a bit in the dark, (well quite a lot in the dark actually), about broadband download amounts. Can anyone tell me how I can find out how much I download or if it is measured in time online give me a rough idea how many hours a month equals what sort of download amount? I am thinking about switching to broadband and UKOnline at £9.99 looks good but is only 512kbps and I don't know if this would be enough or not.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanx0 -
512 Kbps is a measurement of speed. It sounds like you may have this confused with usage allowances which is measured in GB. Basically if you just use the web for surfing and e-mails, you don't really need an unlimited service, a few GB will probably do.
I've copied this graph from the freenetname website, it will give you an idea of usage:
For the majority of users, 5GB a month is more than enough. The table below displays a range of typical weekly online activities that you could undertake.
General web browsing
125 hours a week
Sending/receiving photos (by e-mail)
125 per week
Downloading MP3s
75 per week
Sending/receiving e-mails (no attachments)
1000 per week
Watching videos
75 minutes per week
Online gaming
5 hours per week
TOTAL
5GB / month
These are examples of usage, not limits. Other online activity can result in data transfer. Please note; this is only an approximate guide.0 -
