  • Hi Aremess. Good to see that you've got it working. I've done exactly as you did. All books can be downloaded but I can only read free books, not loaned library or purchased books. Are you able to read library or bought books on yours? What is the model number of yours as it appears there is more than one model out there. The number is on the bottom of the back of the reader in microscopic writing. Mine is R7T0WWHF2. I am trying to find out whether mine is faulty rather than just not being set up for the UK.

Hi Peter, I haven't tried downloading a loaned library book or bought one yet, so I can't comment on that. The model no: of mine is R7T40WWHF2. Have you missed the 4 on your model no:?
I would like to get rid of all of the B&N stuff on mine and download some other e-reader software, but unsure what to do or change to. Overall, I am quite impressed with it.
I will post again once I have purchased a book.

    Regards...Aremess.

P.S. I have downloaded a library book to ADE and from there to my PD Novel. From the PD, it will not open. I just get an error message saying "device is not activated". Did you have to install "Overdrive" to you PD Novel, in order to download library books?
  • Hi Aremess
You are right I missed out the 4 on the number. My Novel is the same as yours.
Unfortunately we both appear to have the same problem.
As I said earlier I can download any book to my laptop and then transfer it to the reader using ADE. However I can only open and read free books, I cannot read either library books or purchased books i.e any books that are DRM protected. I think for pdf books I get the same message as you that the device is not activated even though it most certainly is. With epub books the error mesage is that the licence doesn't exist.
I haven't tried 'Overdrive' yet as my library said I only needed ADE. I'll try it and see what happens.
Like you I'm really frustrated as I like this reader.

  • Hello

This is my first post as I only joined yesterday. I have the Pandigital Novel model R7T40WWHF2 which is 4 GB. I notice that the Mail is now fully describing the ereader on their list of rewards. It is only 1 GB. so maybe we were lucky!

I have not been able to download any books other than a free sample from Barnes and Noble. Like others on this thread, I could not register with them because I am not in the USA.

I have downloaded the Adobe Digital Edition 2 but don't know what I have to do to drag my books from my computer to the tablet.

Do you have to download the Adobe software onto the tablet too? How do you authorize the tablet?

I really like this Tablet, but am also frustrated because although it is useful for other things, I really claimed it in order to use it as an ereader.
  • So frustrating to get this heap of garbage - just wasted a weekend trying to get some books withour success. Nearly threw in the bin as lets face it, it cost nothing if you buy the paper. Bought a book off ebooks but the touch screen is so difficult to use that can't do a thing. Wonder what the mail would do if we all wrote letters to the editor or "straight to the point"
Bought my wife a kindle last year and this doesnt even come a close last.
  • I, too sent off for my free eReader and have been unable to register it as I do not live in the US or Canada! I have spoken to their help desk, to ask where the AC Adapter is, as it was missing from the box and to ask how to download any books. I was emailed a help booklet for a different model PRD07T10WWH7, which I followed until the part where you had to simultaneously press the volume key and the slide the start key - from then on nothing happened! I still cannot register it or download any books.
I informed them that it was the wrong help booklet - they duly sent me - another one, exactly the same! I was really looking forward to using this, as a pensioner I can't afford to buy a similar gadget and as a regular reader of the Daily Mail - to get this FREE I thought was my only way of getting one. How disappointing - is this the sort of thing that trading standards can deal with? It all seems a bit of a con!

    Hi there everyone

I have succeeded in downloading the Kindle app to my Pandigital ereader. I have not got time at the moment to let you know what I did as I have to go to work. Watch this space later tonight. I went to another site and obtained some useful info from there.
  • Hello again

The advice that I was given was to go to the freewarelovers website and download Kindle 2.0.2 102300153. I cannot give a link as I am new to this site Worked for me, hope it works for you. My model is R7T40WWHF2. When I first tried to download the app, a message appeared on the Pandigital to say that I had not got enough space, so I deleted a few of the apps that I had added and the kindle downloaded. I have bought 2 books already since yesterday, to see if it worked, and it did.. BTW, I already have an Amazon account as my husband has a kindle.

The person giving this advice also said that there were several Kindle apps so if yours is a different model, another version of Kindle app might work for you.
  • Extra info for the above post - On the freewarelovers site click on the Kindle and then chose older versions on the list. scroll down the list till you get to the correct one (2.0.2. 102300153)

The offer requires the collection of 8000 points which by my calculation is going to cost £80.00 in buying the Daily Mail.

That alone would put me off buying it.
