However, I've discovered(as an IT worker) that it is really quite difficult to operate and that it is actually set up to work in the USA and NOT in the UK.
I phoned Mail Rewards to discuss this (as it means that you are unable to 'add' books to your library as your address is 'international'.). They agreed that it was a problem they were aware of, and provided me with a helpline number. I phoned this morning- kept on hold for 15 mins - then it automatically disconnects UNLESS you leave a voicemail - which I did... still waiting for my call to be returned.
Anyone else had any experience of all of this?
I received my ereader yesterday and after several frustrating hours, discovered the same problems as you- unable to download anything as it appears to be aimed at American market.
Having read all the comments on this site, I phoned Daily Mail Rewards club to complain. They initially tried to fob me off with a telephone number where I was told I would be advised on how to download software to enable the ereader to be used in UK !!
I politely declined to follow this advice and said as the device was virtually useless and not fit for purpose, I wanted to return it and also wanted a refund of the Mail Rewards points I had spent on it.
The advisor put up no further resistance (I think they must have had a lot of complaints) and agreed to refund the points on receipt of the ereader. A pre paid postage label was e mailed to me and I shall be returning it tomorrow.
I have now ordered a Kindle from Amazon.
Shame on you Daily Mail for trying to fob off your loyal readers with this useless rubbish!0 -

At least your not locked into the Amazon eco-system and can borrow books from your local library if your local library supports e-book lending.0 -

Hi All
Have just been reading all problems with the Pandigital Ereader issued as a Daily Mail reward. I too couldn't believe it when I found I couldn't purchase books (isn't this what an ereader is for) surely they have to get this sorted or do I have to move to the USA ? I have also tried to get it sorted and been hung up on but have now sent this email to Daily Mail:
Following my previous message on 3rd Nov regarding your 'EReader. I have since been reading many other comments and complaints from other people who have had the same problem with your ereader not being able to obtain books. I too have been left on hold for 15 mins and then cut off. My suggestion to you is for the DAILY MAIL to issue the instructions on how to use THEIR ereader and not expect THEIR loyal readers to have to go to all this trouble to be able to use the product that they have been saving points for. I have been reading your paper 7 days a week for quite some time now and have received other rewards which I have been very happy with, but I think on this occasion you have let your customers down BADLY. So come on Daily Mail take some responsibility and fix this problem for your customers.
Will let you all know if I get any response.0 -
Hi again
Following my letter to the Daily Mail yesterday regarding the problems with their eReader I have received an email from them sending me this:
PanDigital eReader User Enhancement Guide.pdf
This gives you step by step instructions on how to reset your eReader so you can access books in the UK so I am just charging up my device and hopefully giving it a go, so wish me luck.
Will let you know if all goes well.0 -
mickymum, have you had any joy?
I have just tried to get a returns label from the Daily Mail Rewards helpline, on behalf of my Dad, and they refused and told me they have 'had an update' and the ereader can now be used with books from Waterstones.
Our problem is that there is no software on the e-reader in the first place, so we are unable to get it to read any books.
If you can upload the pdf doc, I would be grateful mickeysmum. Otherwise we will try again to get a returns labe and get rid of the thing.0 -
Quick update: we had no joy with the Waterstones site so I rang the Daily Mail Rewards right back and we have now been sent a pre-paid returns label by email.
The CS person showed no evidence of having attended charm school, but she relented in the end. Still, poor girl has raging Daily Mail readers ringing her all day long - can't be an easy job!0 -
Like a number of other posters I received my e-reader from the Daily Mail with enthusiasm. Two weeks later I seem to be in the same position as everyone else. I can download all books to my computer and then download them to the reader. So far so good. When I come to read the books all I can read are the free ones. The reader won't read either books borrowed from the library or books that I have purchased. The reader either says that the user isnt activated or that a licence doesn't exist. I've contacted the Mail customer service and they immediately said I could either return it for a points refund or I could contact the Pandigital help number. Clearly the Mail have had a lot of calls about this e-reader.
My question is, has anyone actually got this thing to work, ie to read all books whether free or not or is my problem the same as everyone elses.
I have to say that I like this e-reader and would really prefer to get it working rather than returning it so I'd like to know if anyone has got one to work and my particular unit is just faulty.

Further to my previous post about the Pandigital Novel from The Daily Mail, I agree that whilst the B and N app pre-loaded on it, is aimed at the USA markets, I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to my computer and authorised the Pandigital on that. I now download E-books in either PDF or EPUB format, which then add to ADE where I drag and drop them to the PD Novel. From the PD, if you open the B & N app from the home page shortcut, you will find the your books stored there. Hope this is of help.
