Daily Mail e-Reader - brand?

Is anyone able to identify the brand of e-reader the Daily Mail are "giving away" as part of their Rewards promotion:
mailrewardsclub.mailonline.co.uk/WeekendClub/products/331
The page claims an RRP of £89.99 which is pretty meaningless unless it is actually being sold for somewhere near that price and the thing is of a reasonable quality (which I must say is quite unlikely for an unbranded product although I might be wrong).
The offer requires the collection of 8000 points which by my calculation is going to cost £80.00 in buying the Daily Mail.

I can't see the branding, but given it's in colour, have a look on Play for their cheapy eareaders.
It's got to be an LCD display for colour, which means it's not a true ereader but one of the cheap chinese "readers" that is basically an MP3 player with a larger screen and some software.
It won't be comfortable to read for long, and the battery life will be measured in hours rather than the days/weeks of an eink display (LCD's use power just to show anything, eink only uses power to change the display - hence why the likes of the kindle can sit with it's screen saver running for days)
If you want a cheap, true ereader iirc WHsmith have been doing a Kobo eink model for as little as £65 (see the bargain section), or the Kindle is only a bit more.0 -
It looks like absolute rubbish. TFT screen? It's not a proper e-reader at all. It's just a MP3/Video player that can also display some e-reader formats. Not worth £89.99 in my opinion.0

I guess if you are a religious buyer of the Daily Mail every day of the program to collect tokens it's worth it, if it's free that way. BUT otherwise, as others have said it's not going to be good. for £80's worth of the paper, you would be far better spending a couple extra quid and go for a kindle.0

Thanks for all the replies.
Pretty much confirms my suspicions that it's not worth having.0 -
Looks like some generic Chinese rubbish. Model Number is CTO35436 if that's any use.0

Is it this one?

As everyone else has said just save your money and go for a kindle.0 -
Hi everyone,
I have just received the E-Reader from The Daily Mail Rewards scheme and the one which i have received is a Pandigital Novel 7" Multimedia Tablet and Colour E-Reader.
I was somewhat surprised because it really looks like a nice piece of equipment, with touch screen, Wi-Fi, plus Android Apps and comes pre-loaded with various apps too. these include Dictionary, FaceBook, Calender and Calculator to name just a few.
It was easily connected to my home Wi-Fi and is currently on charge. I am looking forward to finding my way around it.
Hope that this may be of use to anyone considering which type of E-reader they may receive.
Regards...Aremess0 -
You were luckier than me than, i received a panadigital black and white one which i still havent been able to use as there was no adapter included with it
I have been in touch with them on and stated how unhappy i am with this reward since it is now stating quite clearly on the reward page that this is a coloured one but i am still waiting to hear back from them0 -
My parents have just received one of these - much to the utter exctiement of my mum - who has been saving avidly for MANY months. However, I've discovered(as an IT worker) that it is really quite difficult to operate and that it is actually set up to work in the USA and NOT in the UK.
I phoned Mail Rewards to discuss this (as it means that you are unable to 'add' books to your library as your address is 'international'.). They agreed that it was a problem they were aware of, and provided me with a helpline number. I phoned this morning- kept on hold for 15 mins - then it automatically disconnects UNLESS you leave a voicemail - which I did... still waiting for my call to be returned.
Anyone else had any experience of all of this?0 -
Imagine my delight when this time last Saturday my chosen reward for saving 8000 points with the Daily Mail my e reader was finally delivered. It looked fantastic..easy to set up wi-fi,,read the book thoroughly.Told myself i would need some quiet time to sit and work it all out etc...well,a week later and still im confused, frustrated and thinking of putting it in the bin!
Unless anyone out there can advise me.
Unable to download books from an English site..Barnes and Noble are American, they are affiliated to this product.Contacted customer support via email to recieve a response that the stock was part of a liquidation agreement and company refuse to provide further assistance,,great!
Now what do we do..contacted Daily Mail rewards they gave me this number 0207 365 0047 to ring..rang twice ,,hung on for over 15mins,then was told id be cut off,,did this twice,,then gave up.
Is this product totally useless,,can i complain and choose an alternative item from the Daily Mail?0
