MSE News: Santander launches cashback current account
Comments

Tommy - the standard current account never allowed free withdrawals in Europe - it did however allow free withdrawals at ANY santander cash machine in Spain or the Spanish Islands.
The only exception to this would be the Zero Current Account.
Thanks Dano 24.
I should have mentioned I use a Santander ATM when in Spain, so I have never paid charges. With all the talk about DD's not automatically transferable, I probable won't bother for approx £20 a year.

I believe the account number/sort code stays the same if you upgrade which is why no DD are transferred.0

I went into local branch to get more details. Said I was on a DMP,was told no problem as this new account not credit scored. Made appointment to go back the next week when the 123 thing was due to start. However I applied on line instead as could have got cash back through a site I use. I received letter a few days later saying my application had been denied as they had done a credit check? I already have a normal current account with Santander, no over draft and always in credit, so not sure why I was refused. Not really that concerned though. Just seems to be that the financial advisor I spoke to i branch did not know what she was talking about!0

did you apply for a new account or an upgrade?0 -
Woman in branch said it would be a simple upgrade!!0

Sounds like you applied for a new account rather than an upgrade.0

I applied for 123 account on line. Was asked for account and sort number work details etc, which they already had. Never mind, nothing lost, was just hoping to get over 50 quid through cash back site.0

As regards the transfer of DD's, half a dozen phone calls and the job was done.
Thanks for making me smile this morning - I had to look twice at your username :money:0 -

if you applied for a new account online a credit score would have been done. obviously with a dmp it would be declined
you tried to be clever and get the cashback
you can upgrade your existing account without a credit check, provided you dont have an instant plus or a basic account at the moment0 -
Oh dear... I have a feeling there will be a large number of disappointed people on MSE...
And even more disgruntled Santander customers.:mad::mad:
