MSE News: Santander launches cashback current account

However, I've now rather spoilt this plan as I just couldn't resist applying for another set of accounts (123 CA + 123 CC) in her name in order to get another lot of £75 cashback!
I assume you made the applications separately, and if so did you get an instant decision on the CC?
I applied for both cards separately in order to claim both sets of cashbacks. CA accepted and already showing online. No word yet on CC, however already tracked on topcashback.0 -
Hi Jammi, same as you - CA accepted, no word on CC.
Well done for going the cashback route - £75 in the bag if all goes well.

Both my Quidco cashbacks for C/account & for credit card are now showing as tracked. But both are still showing as no amount so whether any actual money will eventually be forthcoming or whether they will give me cashback as two lots of £0.00 remains to be seen...! I don't know whether this cashback tracking is a positive sign for the c/card appli since I was turned down a few months ago & I don't have a decision either way this time yet. Also, from memory, I think Quidco's cashback for the credit card is now reduced to £15.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Still £20.20 cashback for the cc at Topcashback.

Will the new Santander 123 account still allow free ATM withdrawals in Europe as long as you have 1k going through the account each month?
TIA

Looks like it is, after all, second time lucky for me with the 123 credit card -- no confirmation of acceptance but PINs for self & OH were in this morning's snail-mail! (I bet both "Trackings" are still showing as 'no amount' in Quidco, though...)Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

I applied for the Preferred Current Account when the £75 Top Cashback offerwas on. It hasn't tracked even though I deleted cookies first. I've got a Missing Cashback Query in but I'll be peeved if I don't get it! My small purchases track no problem but my big ones don't! Nearly lost out on £50 cashback for my mobile a few years ago.
Still, at least I should get the £100 cashback from Santander themselves regardless0 -
Oh dear... I have a feeling there will be a large number of disappointed people on MSE. Let's just say I have an intricate understanding of Santander having worked in the branch network until very recently.
1) As previously mentioned, Santander will not move your direct debits from an internal account. You would have to apply for the upgrade on the account with Santander directly where they simply update the tarrif you are on and pay you cashback.
2) Cashback Incentives (Quidco, TCB or Santanders £100/200/300 offer) never apply for existing BANKING customers. So I am sorry to say that everyone that has applied via TCB will be disappointed when the tracked £55.55 is never paid.
From TopCashBacks website:
The 123 Current Account is open to new and existing Santander customers aged 18 and above (must be UK resident). TopCashBack Cashback is only available to NEW customers.
3) An existing customer is anyone with an open bank account. It doesnt matter whether you havent used it in 10 years, if its open - you dont get the money. The easiest way is to close it, wait 13 weeks and try again. While you are waiting 13 weeks you could be using the First Direct offer to get your £100 :-p
Hope that this clears sometthings up.

Tommy - the standard current account never allowed free withdrawals in Europe - it did however allow free withdrawals at ANY santander cash machine in Spain or the Spanish Islands.
The only exception to this would be the Zero Current Account.0 -

Not particularly. Most would probably have applied for the account as they would benefit from the interest. The cashback was simply a bonus. Santander probably caused a bit of confusion by emailing existing account holders the DD transfer form.
As regards the transfer of DD's, half a dozen phone calls and the job was done.0
